Rest assured that the Legislature will not be making any changes to high school football team names any time soon, and neither will the UIL so long as the Legislature has something to say about it.Until the Texas legislature or UIL makes a rule, we’re the “Indians” and it’s comes off as patronizing to not use our logo when they use everyone else’s.
In a just world, there would be a featured article in SI about the rivalry. We shall see.Did they ever release the Best HS Football Rivalry results? We know MCM won, but figured there would be an official announcement or something?
The DCTF podcasts struggle to get viewers (50-100). They would die with envy with PNG NDN Press viewer numbers. DCTF, Beaumont Enterprise, and Port Arthur News need to know where there sports market lies. Does not take a marketing genius to figure that out.Good job everyone who voted. We went from 1 vote when I posted this at 4:30am on Sunday to 9,315 by the end of Thursday. 5 days. Mid-County rules. We don’t recruit but we know how to play and support the all-American game.
In the old days of Friday Night Lights football fans about in Texas knew what the Block P on a football helmet stood for. I want PNG to as well known and respected across the state of Texas as Odessa Permian’s Block P. Who are We!!!! PNGGood point- Thanks for the correction. Glad to see my cynical take was incorrect.

Can you imagine the can of worms that would open. PETA and other animal rights groups and the left wing would have a politically correct field day in Texas.Rest assured that the Legislature will not be making any changes to high school football team names any time soon, and neither will the UIL so long as the Legislature has something to say about it.
I went to the 1977 Plano vs PNG game was sitting next to a Local spectator not a Plano fan. Still the all time single game venue attendance record. PNG fumble at the start of the game in their end of the field. The guy turned to me and said that’s going to be an easy Plano score. I told him Plano would not score on this drive. PNG defense held spectacular understood why PNG was there. Who are We!!! PNGHOWEVER
(Being a musician for years)
There ain’t no SHOW without the BUSINESS
They might not “cover” us
But all that hubbub made it to where our last two teams got near national exposure
Which back in the day where we might have played our SC games at Baylor stadium etc on a random day at the same time other games were happening this way all eyes on us
We get to play in front of not only our and SOC fans but a definite percentage of interested by standers
Who are impressed by us I guarantee.
I met a guy who had on purple
He said I never heard about y’all until last year but I enjoyed it so much I wanted to be a part of it.
I say let’s continue to shock all of Texas
We’ve been doing it for over 60 years. Hell yeah. Who better
We now represent the demographic - it used to be Katy and sort of still is but less this year.
PNG fanatics ( root word for fans) have an insatiable appetite. PNG wants future PNG generations to have the Honor, Pride, and Tradition. Today’s generation “History” is the last internet post on their phone. History has to be constantly expressed or it disappears into oblivion.Where does the idea that DCTF doesn’t cover us come from? Coach Joseph was literally on the cover this year.
We’re not “inner city” which the SOC coach loves to harp on why they win, and why they lose, and why they get called out for potential recruitingVery true
But they do cover Dallas “differently”
No accountability or recognition of reality. Character matters. We’re not “inner city” which the SOC coach loves to harp on why they win, and why they lose, and why they get called out for potential recruiting
Jason Todd wants his book and movie rights for his “Legendary” Accomplishments. See Todd Dodge for what defines Legendary in high school sports. We’re not “inner city” which the SOC coach loves to harp on why they win, and why they lose, and why they get called out for potential recruiting
Well said. Press Editors now days can’t grasp these concepts and express them to the public. Always looking over their shoulders for the political correct “police” with their selfish agendas. Never let the minority shout down free speech. This has been something I have been thinking about these last few days.
My thoughts are not complete so please pardon my ramblings below.
Every team has a community. Our community has a story that makes us unique just like every other community. Hurricanes, explosions, etc.
I am very happy to see the inner city communities get excited about their story (shared struggles) provided they don't do it at the exclusion to others.
This also follows the line of "We just don't get much love" from the media. Our story isn't going to be appreciated as much outside our circles.
This translates into scholarship opportunities for our players as well.
I would enjoy knowing more about other teams and their communities.
Ultimately this translates into Character Building for a team and community.
Honor, Pride, Tradition.
So it takes the community, parents, players, band, cheer leaders, coaches, dancers, teachers, churches, mentors, etc. to make a successful team and community.
How did we do it? It seems as if it was built in.
How is it that we won a state championship with very few "Stars"?
It seems as if the media credits Chief Joseph and the "Katy Royalty" even though he honestly credits the players, coaches, and community.
No excuses these can be DCFT Business Write off expenses for the lady DCFT editors of Women talking football. Where there is a will there is a way. No excuses not to check off one of your lifetime bucket list items. The difference is that they don't show up at PN-G games. They show up for tons of games in D-FW and its environs, a fair number of Houston-area and Central Texas games, and the occassional game in West, East, or South Texas, but have never made a trip to the Golden Triangle at all, to my knowledge.
If Nederland manages to win tonight, MCM would be the perfect opportunity to make a first trip to the Reservation.
5A DII AREA ROUND
PN-G Indians (10-1)
vs.
Kaufman Lions (7-4)
Thursday, Nov. 21, 6:00PM
I could not be more proud of our team and our community. The spirit here is unmatched! I am so lucky to be a part of it and to wear the purple and white! The journey of this football season, with these coaches and our players, will stay with me forever. -- PN-G Head Coach Jeff Joseph
