Enjoyed the 1st half...left as the Indians re-entered the field for the 2nd half...up 48-3 I didn't think the 2nd half would show much more. When I went to the Baytown Lee game, I said Lee was terrible and Lumberton would not finish last. Now, I'm not so sure. It will be a knock down drag out fight for last place. In the pre-game warm ups, it looked like Lumberton had some size, their QB threw the ball well, and I thought they would compete. Midway through the 2Q, with PN-G up 34-3, Lumberton just quit. PN-G could have scored 70+ points running basic plays...I mean simple option read hand-offs, the quick pop hand-off to Halfin right up the middle, and simple pass plays like the 5-yard out route. Morse had a great game all in the 1st half. Halfin, too. Basic plays. #10 caught everything thrown to him, #11 caught the ball, #8, #32, #26, and all the others contributed. The throw to #10 and then to #11 was sweet. OL pushed the Raiders off the ball. Not sure our defense had to break a sweat. Looked like we were vanilla on defense. I did not see any blitz pakages from PN-G. Looked like our regular defense. Nice swipes on the INTs. On offense, we saw the same plays over and over. Halfin, quick passing game. The Raiders did not make any adjustments to anything the Indians did. Poor coaching in Lumberton. They did not even give their kids a chance to compete. I listened to the 2nd half on the radio during my drive back. Lance Billeaud said the PN-G coaches were rotating in a lot of kids and trying to chew clock with ground game. Thank goodness for that.
On to Mid County Madness. I did not see any injuries in the 1st half. We should be good to go. Lumberton was not much of a 1st half warm-up. Not to take anything away from PN-G on a great homecoming night. The Indians did what they had to do. Move the ball and punch in TDs. Now go enjoy the homecoming dance / festivities.
Go Indians. Peace.
P.S. Does PN-G still do a homecoming dance? Or, did that die out in the 90s or 00s? Am I showing my age?
