I heard another rumor.....playoff stadium site related

Take it as a 100% rumor but I heard an agreement would have been in place to play the game at UH's Robertson Stadium BUT coach BF preferred to play on field turf and declined. If this is true id be very disappointed that many fans may be left out from watching the game over something that's shouldn't have been a major issue, we aren't talking about a mudpit there in Houston. I'd prefer to believe the other rumors floating around the net on why we're playing a playoff game in a stadium smaller than the Reservation.

Actually the type of field is a pretty big deal. Our team has only played on grass 3 times out of the 11 games so far. Brenham plays on grass so it is to our advantage to play on something familiar.

Bottom line on all of this is that we could have played at Stallworth, but Brehnam nixed it causing all of the stadium uproar.

I will side with OUR Coach EVERY time in the decisions he makes for our team. We are 11 - 0 and in the second rd. of the play-offs because of the decisions our Coach and his staff have made all year. I happen to agree also, that a turf field is a better option for us. You would not want a game decided by field conditions as related to the weather, sometimes in poor weather games the best team does not win. I say--good coice coach keep it up and lead us to the next round of play-offs. ;D

The University of Houston has a home game vs. Memphis on Saturday, November 21st at Robertson Stadium. Usually, Coach Sumlin does not like a game played on the field the Friday night before a Saturday home game ... UH tries to give the opposing team a chance for a walk-through at Robertson Stadium versus a walk through at a hotel or over at the UH Athletics and Alumni Center. That said, UH will not turn away a rental fee and a chance to make money from a high profile HS game ... it may have been possible to play at UH ... but, I would give the benefit of the doubt to CBF and the PN-GISD. Why flip for a home and home stadium choice? You could lose and then be stuck with a 6,000 seat cow pasture. And, if Robertston Stadium at UH was not a preference of CBF due to grass, scheduling, timing of availability, etc., then so be it. It is CBF's job to put the Indians in the best possible situation to win. If he wants field turf, then go for it. I think everyone will find that Thorne Stadium will accommodate PN-G vs. Brenham game. It is not a 6,000 seat cow pasture. You can squeeze in a SRO crowd. There is only a 40% chance of rain in the Houston area on Friday, November 20 (per Weather.com as of today). That means there is a 60% chance that it will not rain. I'm an optimist. Aldine ISD will open up the end zones ... it makes sense for them to do so ... parking, concessions, and the UIL may ask them to do so ... after all, the UIL is not afraid to make some money, too. Plus, the schools involved in the game will not want Aldine ISD to turn away money ... that is money that PN-G and Brenham can split. Hope for good weather, make the drive to Thorne, and watch the Indians move on to 12-0 (again, I'm an optimist). We'll all squeeze in and give all the Indian fans a chance to see the game. Just keep'em coming at the gate, push that gate in, and crowd the field ... kind of like the Indian fans did at the Astrodome back in the 1970s ... the lines would form, the crowd would grow, and the Astrodome had to keep opening up levels of seats. Aldine will do the same. The lines will form, the crowds will grow, and the Aldine ISD will let the flood of Indian fans surround the field. Pack that place ... and make some noise. Go early, be loud, be rowdy, be excited, push those gates open, and energize the Indians to a W.

Go Indians. Peace.

Very well said 1989NDN! I AGREE 100%! From this point forward we should just be talking about showing up and supporting the Indians. Let's pack the house and show them NOTHING can hold back INDIAN NATION!!

I agree that it sucks that some fans will be left out, but I would prefer to put our team on a ground they are comfortable playing on rather than trying to fit all of the fans. Afterall, this IS about playing football (JMO). Think about it this way, would you rather see the indians lose (live), or listen to them win (on the radio)? I don't mean they can't handle real grass (I did see the Livingston game), but it really is to the players' advantage to play on ground similar to their home field.

I support Coach Faircloth's decision 100%. Better to put the team in the best situation to win regardless.

I heard the same thing, but that Coach BF did not refuse UH Stadium, but left it as a "last resort" choice, because he preferred a stadium with turf....smart thinking if you ask me.

Brenham plays on a grass field...rain or shine...they are used to it!
PN-G plays on turf...sometimes on grass, once this year in the rain, who knows if it would work out as well for us again.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that we don't want to give them any advantage in this game, so his decision was RIGHT ON!!

Stadium discussion - I went on line Sat and was alarmed to see that Thorne Stadium only seated 10,000 since there were 8,000 plus at the bi-district game. My first impulse was that Brenham must want to limit the PNG crowd. But after reading this message board, I am sure Coach Faircloth made the right decision. I live in Houston, but was able to get my brother-in-law to pick up my tickets this a.m. I am surprised to see that as of this p.m. there are still 500 tickets left. According to the Coach at Aldine (I called him yesterday) there will be SRO tickets on sale at the Stadium. I urge as many young Indians as possible to get SRO's and stand in the end zones. This game will be the toughest that PNG has faced this year not withstanding their great 11-0 record. The team definitely deserves our best crowd and a good crowd my be the edge they need to pull this one out.of the regular season Waller beat Brenham by only one point to share a co-district championship with Brenham. The loss to Waller was 1 of 2 losses that Brenham had this season.

Tough Team -According to the Brenham Banner Press (you can view it online) Brenham played its reserves during the entire second half of their lopsided bi-district victory over Manor. In the final game Go INDIANS - HARMONIZE the Cubs and my the ARROW FORCE be with you.
