The University of Houston has a home game vs. Memphis on Saturday, November 21st at Robertson Stadium. Usually, Coach Sumlin does not like a game played on the field the Friday night before a Saturday home game ... UH tries to give the opposing team a chance for a walk-through at Robertson Stadium versus a walk through at a hotel or over at the UH Athletics and Alumni Center. That said, UH will not turn away a rental fee and a chance to make money from a high profile HS game ... it may have been possible to play at UH ... but, I would give the benefit of the doubt to CBF and the PN-GISD. Why flip for a home and home stadium choice? You could lose and then be stuck with a 6,000 seat cow pasture. And, if Robertston Stadium at UH was not a preference of CBF due to grass, scheduling, timing of availability, etc., then so be it. It is CBF's job to put the Indians in the best possible situation to win. If he wants field turf, then go for it. I think everyone will find that Thorne Stadium will accommodate PN-G vs. Brenham game. It is not a 6,000 seat cow pasture. You can squeeze in a SRO crowd. There is only a 40% chance of rain in the Houston area on Friday, November 20 (per Weather.com as of today). That means there is a 60% chance that it will not rain. I'm an optimist. Aldine ISD will open up the end zones ... it makes sense for them to do so ... parking, concessions, and the UIL may ask them to do so ... after all, the UIL is not afraid to make some money, too. Plus, the schools involved in the game will not want Aldine ISD to turn away money ... that is money that PN-G and Brenham can split. Hope for good weather, make the drive to Thorne, and watch the Indians move on to 12-0 (again, I'm an optimist). We'll all squeeze in and give all the Indian fans a chance to see the game. Just keep'em coming at the gate, push that gate in, and crowd the field ... kind of like the Indian fans did at the Astrodome back in the 1970s ... the lines would form, the crowd would grow, and the Astrodome had to keep opening up levels of seats. Aldine will do the same. The lines will form, the crowds will grow, and the Aldine ISD will let the flood of Indian fans surround the field. Pack that place ... and make some noise. Go early, be loud, be rowdy, be excited, push those gates open, and energize the Indians to a W.
Go Indians. Peace.
