I was told that the prayer at events had to be posted and presented 10 days prior to the start of school from 1 administrator and another stated that the guidelines changed a couple of years ago to any student could walk to the press box and ask to pray and they were allowed.

Like most School Rules they are should do items not WILL do items.

Anyway you cut it it is a nice moment.

Will they allow a nonchristian prayer? Muslim, Jewish etc...? We do have a religiously diverse student population. Read Neal Morgan's book and he addresses this issue perfectly.

Neal Morgan was a head coach of Nederland the year that we beat them in the last 20 - 30 seconds of the game and he accused a player (Aguillard of pushing off) and lamblasted the officials and refused to ever use the local chapter again. Not a PNG fan. BTW, we were sitting right in front of the play and I have to admit that Morgan was correct but the official didn't see it. The game was close and the team that won (us)ultimately went to the playoffs. I think it was the graduating class of 1974, but I'm not sure.

He also is an extremely liberal person and writes for the PANews editorial pages always putting Republicans down and bragging on Democrats (which means he always gets it wrong IMHO).

I've read some of the editorials. Could not be more off base. The type of thinking that has the country in trouble today.

Squaw and OldEagle are right on Neal. He has really never gotten over the 74 game and they don't get much more liberal than him. The book Kalakahon Kounty (sorry for the misspell) he addresses this prayer issue. Plus, it is a fair read in that it is interesting trying to figure out what characters are who.
Neal is a true Democrat who would vote for a monkey if it was their candidate. He is a good friend and extremely smart and educated. Masters in English and multiple degrees.

I do like the fact that he cares deeply about this country and this area. Do I agree with him??? Sometimes. Sometimes not. I don't have to always agree with him to respect him.
