Take the Lions gaudy offense stats and scores with at least a small grain of salt. Out of 488 rushing attempts over the year, only about 60 were made by backups. That’s maybe one series per game. Seems that the backups don’t play a lot.

If PN-G had done the same all year the offensive statistics and scores would likely have been significantly greater.

Regardless, this is probably the biggest defensive challenge of the year.

i agree with both points. Fortunately, I suspect that their defense is not in the same league as ours, so I think we will be able to slow them down a lot more than they can slow us down. However, we do need to play relatively error free like we have the last few weeks.

Only watched a few highlights but their big RB reminds me of the one from TX City and we did a great job shutting him down…LC does have a strong passing game though.

For good reason there is a comforting sense of confidence in this Indian fan. This is a talented, motivated football team led by great coaches with proven ability to play well and adjust. I know that the team will be well prepared for the upcoming battle.

Absolutely! Not gonna lie, I was surprised we beat FBM last year but that’s the moment I think we all realized Joseph and company were the REAL DEAL! In my opinion, our district may be weaker this year but LC doesn’t seem to present anything we haven’t faced…they’re just very well balanced but I think our O-Line and defense is better than anything they’ve gone up against! So If it comes down to coaching and execution…I think they’re in TROUBLE!

Not going to copy verbatim from DCTF, but here’s a little more.

… The Region III title could get decided this week as last year’s state runner-up Port Neches-Groves looks to slow down one of the state’s most explosive offensive units in Lake Creek.

The Lions average just shy of 52 points per game, while PNG’s defense is considered one of the best in the state, so the matchup should be fascinating.

….

That being said, PNG’s strength on defense and in the trenches is the difference in this showdown.

Feels a lot like the Austin LBJ game last year.

Similar, but I think LC will be a bigger challenge. Both had gaudy offensive stats, but LBJ faced much weaker competition prior to facing us. LBJ also had gaudy defensive stats relative to LC, but once again against inferior competition. Overall, I suspect that JBJ may have been a bit better than LC defensively (and possibly much better), but I think LC will pose a bigger challenge for our defense. Having said that, if we play to the best of our ability we should be able to slow them down a lot more than they can slow us down.
