Mid-County Madness

Some fans may think I am crazy, and PN-G gave up 42 points vs. Tomball, but the defense played OK...they were in position to make stops, but they didn't get it done. The Tomball QB made two long runs and we missed tackles...flat out missed him. We had kids around the football. The pursuit was good. DBs played off the ball and we gave up a lot of space. That can be corrected. Need to tighten up the DBs. I suspect the coaches play off the ball to prevent getting burned deep? I get that, but we give up a lot of real estate off the line of scrimmage and opposing WRs get the ball in open space or over the middle with a DB chasing. Some say we do not have the right kids on the field. Who should get replaced? Or who should be rotated in DBs? CBs? Safeties? LBs? DL? I've only seen the Tomball game. On offense, our WRs did not get separation. Not much speed or quickness at WR. I'm not a coach and I will not pretend to be one, but I would think we could scheme some things to get our kids open. Hard to make throws when the DB is stride for stride with the WR. Also, we had some drops. The ball was catchable and the Indians did not make the grab. That is execution and can be corrected. Also, the snaps at the QBs feet or off to the side caused problems with timing. That should get corrected.

Heard that Nederland is slow with one exception. This will be a slugfest and the Indians will show up ready to swing. After seeing the offensive and defensive lines against that big Tomball team, I’m not too worried about those guys. Baker and Kinnett are solid in the middle and linebackers #6 Gardiner and #16 Landry will hit you hard at the point of contact. #55 Nichols and #17 Dugas are scrappy at DE.

The o-line will move the man in front of them. The game is won in the trenches.

My opinion is the new DC has plan. Seems to be a good one. As a fact Bridge City is 75-2 in points the last 2 games. Sooo it seems to have turned in our favor. I believe Nederland will win. Their rated #1 in our area and IMO the maturity of their staff is off the chart. Look for Nederland to challenge us up front both OL & DL. Thanks for keeping the site open I’ve retired so we have been traveling a lot. In fact haven’t been to the stadium since 2009 but do listen to the radio broadcast it can be tuff on occasion.
The Buck Ford podcast this week showcases Matt Burnett. On that subject the only sorry SOB we have had as a coach was Malone. Stole coke money, etc.... takes to one of his assistants Monday at the gym. He REALLY gave some insight. BUT he did win. How about Bost‍♀️‍♀ And his brother. Gotta be proud parents and grandparents
