Morse sets PN-G single game passing record

Port Neches-Groves junior starting quarterback Adam Morse does not always hear from Indians coach Brandon Faircloth on Sundays.

This Sunday was a little different though so Faircloth sent his signal caller a quick text. The message was to inform Morse he is now the owner of the single game passing record at PN-G.

Morse threw for 383 yards against Clear Lake in a 38-13 PN-G victory. Brennan Doty was the previous record holder with 377 yards against Nederland in 2010.

Morse’s 26 completions Friday puts him in second for completions in a game in PN-G history and his five touchdowns ties Doty for second in the record books for TDs in a single contest. Dustin Long threw for six touchdowns in 1999 against Thomas Jefferson...

Gabe Pruitt posted the top five single game passing records at PN-G on SETXSports in response to a question about Dustin Long. They're pasted below:

Morse 383
Doty 377
Musser 360
Miller 341
Long 327

Three of those five have been set in the last five seasons. That's a real tribute to the Brandon Faircloth era of PN-G football.

Says a lot about Fairclothe to contact players on Sunday.

I am sure Morse wasn't the only one he contacted, all the players did great! Can't wait to see our Db's shut down the WOS qb and those receivers. I think our running game will pick up too.

Congratulations to the entire PNG squad for their support in making this happen for Adam. Without the strong and explosive offensive line to the great patterns that the receivers run to shake off the defenders and then right down to the use of their hands in order to pull that pigskin out of the air for a completion. It's great to see everyone playing their hardest up to every whistle. Just remember, with every great offense, comes with a great defense. Our defensive team is spot on. From the "in your face" front defensive line, to the "round the outside" up "straight atcha" linebackers, they make it happen. Rembert, Lejeune and Hughes.....keep motivating everyone and keep up that hunger attack on that pigskin. Seek and destroy anyone trying to gain that 1st Down. Defensive backs....you know you are the last of the Mohicans back there between the pigskin and the goal-line.....just remember, they don't pass the goal-line at the Reservation. Walker - you are a great leader, continue to keep the motivation level high and all of your players - continue the team aspect...in other words, there is no "I" in team. The only "I" there is, is in Indians....PNG Indians that is..........
