Seems that the job is either opened and listed or not.


Did they list it and then tell candidates that you can apply, but it's not really open because we are Nederland and do thing a special way? Sounds bogus.

I bet lack of newer facilities (and Ned ISD having cheap pockets due to the oldheads still around) kept ppl from high tradition rich schools from applying in majority like say Permian, Katy, Carthage, Westlake, SLC… etc opcorn: :fish:

Not only no coaches from good programs, but very few from any school.

Larry Neumann was the heart and soul of the success Nederland has enjoyed the last couple of decades. The very fact that NISD created or allowed the circumstances that caused him to resign, and that Nederland has not been able to commit to it's educational and athletic facilities, may be the demise of Bulldog football success. Why would a big name coach want to be in that situation?

Neumann was the magic formula. Everyone knows that his coaching, preparation, and presence was the difference in the
touchdown or less advantage in 12 of their wins over PN-G. The nature of those wins is what made Larry Neumann's legend. He coached his teams to improbable wins in which his team was often outplayed or over-matched. It won't be easy to replace or recreate that magic. And it's going to be very difficult to attract a coach with his ability. I think he was one of a kind.

Obvious choice. Admin wants to hang onto Neumann's philosophy as long as possible. Don't much about Barrows. It will be tough to be a Neumann.

Not really, Barrow has been a coach there as long as Neumann, for all of those wins over PNG. Don't count your chickens yet.
