he said the magic phrases in my opinion. Quick (huddle or no huddle) since Pleasant Grove debuted it in 17 (yes I know army navy from the 40s) I’ve seen lots of offenses go to that- why let the defense adjust. They have to guess what formation you’re coming out in and honestly the referees sometimes have to give you the benefit of the doubt on formations
I love the effective trick play. (Not so much the double reverse slow motion flea flicker but formation tricks hidden ball etc.

No huddle offense means the offensive players are going to need to be in better shape day one. A tougher offseason is probably in the cards. More specifically those big o-linemen are going to need to drop that baby and fast food fat that they’re carrying. Skill positions will need to be cardio beasts to run, run, run. PN-G would be a killer 3rd and 4th quarter team.

I’m relatively sure I just failed someone’s sensitivity test, but it’s football facts. If someone is offended I do apologize.

If the players buy in, it can happen. SLC teams are proof of how success is possible if you’re in top form and playing at 100%.

Another point I’ll throw in, all the haters saying that PNG never has any athletes, that’s BS. There is enough to build on and work with. There may not be 4.3 40 guys all over the field, but there are plenty of players with sufficient speed to be successful. Taking better angles, sure tackling and a more intense attitude will work wonders.

Forget about the focus on being an Indian and build reputation on intensity, effort and great results on the field, and great fan support. Doesn’t matter if you’ve got Indians on your jersey, Dragons, Tigers or Cavaliers. These new coaches bring a new, proven perspective.

I'll take a technically sound defense all around any day of the week of a defense with 1 star player and just a bunch of avg guys with no some to little technique. That is why this is a team game.

McCrary has been the receiver and running back coach at SLC. And he’s been around the Dodgeball scheme and great QB development there (Ewers, etc) for 5 years. It’s tough to replace Faircloth’s QB and offensive coaching prowess but McCrary should be able to bring a lot of good experience and ideas to build on the existing system. Plus there is the Todd Dodge consultation connection to help these guys get ramped up.

What I am reading makes me excited about the future of the PNG Indian Football Team. Reminds of the 70's run with Coach Doug Ethridge and his assistants. PNG was not big and fast, but they had technique and beat the bigger and faster teams in the playoffs like Kashmere, La Marque, San Antonio Lee and Churchill and on and on. Let's go Indians, get in shape and get your game face on come September and let's have some fun. I will be watching from afar, or maybe in person.

Reports are coming in that this is a much tougher offseason. That will mean a better prepared team. A lot of it is mentality as well. 100+ effort and execution every play. If not take them off the field. It’s a privilege to play PNG football, not a right.

There’s definitely something about having to prove yourself to the “new guy” instead of the “I’ve been the best since 4th grade and everyone knows it” that can definitely work to our advantage.
for me it was always “this teacher doesn’t hate me yet” lol

These new coaches can reference Katy, Austin Westlake, Southlake Carroll and Lake Travis experiences and comparisons. They’ve got the keys to tap into a different level of player psyche. Now it will be up to the individual player to step up and reach for excellence. Should not matter if a player has started in prior seasons or not. Show it and earn it. 100% effort and learned technique every play or sit down.

100% ... I'm not saying this is the case, but there could be a player that was routinely on the bench or just an occasional fill-in that steps up and proves himself to a new set of eyes. Unfortunately, there is unconscious bias ...so this is a good thing with a new coaching regime. They may see the same things, but perhaps not.
