I think defense looks pretty good, do not know if we have any injuries from Friday. If we get the offense clicking then we will win this one. To me it will be a close one 28-21 PNG.

I heard Matthew Kendrick is out for the year. Jackson Green (#15) left the game late in the 1st half and did not return. Isaac Sinette (#31) replaced Green and ran the fumble back for a TD.

Reports say Kendrick will be back for district and Tommy Reed looks like out for the year.

Kendrick has been a starter since his sophomore year. I noticed that another sophomore is now starting at safety. #28.

Yes injuries on def. I’d be a little skeptical of a couple of the replacements. There’s definitely some better personnel options or moves that could be made. Guess we’ll see how it plays out Friday night.

No need to play kids both ways. There’s definitely options available. Move a player here and move a player there. And there’s a junior on jv who plays safety, bring him up. He’s been the starter at safety since middle school. Was on a team as a freshman and last year on jv as a sophomore. Not sure why he was passed over this year as a junior.

I would be a proponent of the very best athletes or players playing a few downs on the other side of the ball IF the situation warranted. For example if a key stop is needed to either prevent a score or first down. Those plays are momentum shifters. On the other hand coaches may not do this if they feel that the player has not practiced the position enough and may actually create a disadvantage. It’s a fine line. But the key would be to give the best players practice reps and prep time so that they can step in.

A few good examples from offense might be Trahan playing some LB, Ware on the defensive line and maybe the fastest receiver as a DB.

On defense I could see the potential for the fastest players getting some time at receiver if they actually run good patterns and can catch.

The challenge to all that is the player has to have a good understanding of the techniques, schemes and objectives and capable of performing at the position. With few exceptions you can’t just say line up and go get ‘em. Especially in a complex scheme where responsibility is just as critical. Over aggressiveness and under aggressiveness can be equally bad. And if the additional energy expenditure affects their primary position, it could be a null result.

Interesting topic with many things to consider.

Not sure were this game goes. The Indians are relatively young team that has some more growing to do. I fully expect this team to be very good by late in the season. Missing players will be welcomed back when they arrive.
