No Mike Long or anyone else without a Masters according to the Beaumont Ent. We currently have 0 apps turned in for the job. Mike Long stated that this process will hurt our pool of coaches.

I heard Andy Evans of Tatum applied. If this is true and you check his resume, I would say the bar has bet set fairly high from the start. Again, if this is true then I feel we have already passed Long anyway. Please dont take this bad towards Mike its just like I said from the start, we will get guys with much better records and resumes than Long.

As of yesterday there were no apps reported from Randall
Question: is this as of yesterdays Beaumont Enterprise or straight from Randall? I heard there were two applicants, Evans and Alvarez.

I am pretty sure once some of the good head coaches out there take a few days over the holidays to discuss with family memebers that the flood gates will open....Sure you limit the numbers with not allowing a masters but they do have plenty that have them....

This should be an interesting process....My question would be....Who gets to serve on the selection committee?

i agree with the having a MASTER casue you do not want a pop warner coach to apply the for job! we need a person that knows how to handle the AD position .

I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that every AD that PNG has had in recent history had their Master's. I thought that was the whole reason MB was "only" the football coach and boys athletic coordinator.

Allstarmom....You are right...Most AD's from the bigger school districts that are labeled AD have their Masters.....Not all though...It is up to the district as to what is required...Sould be fun to watch this...

I think that is great if Andy applied. He is a great coach and can turn a program around; he has several state championships under his belt. His father Joe Evans is also a wonderful football and track coach and can get the best out of kids that you did not expect to have much talent.

However, I am not sure that is true because his parents put their home on the market in Anahuac to move to Tatum so they could be closer to the grandchildren. His Dad, Joe Evans, often follows him and helps out with the students because Andy has great respect for his coaching philosophy.

You know how the rumors go nowadays but we can have hope for coaches like him to turn in.

So is PNG hiring an AD first and football coach second or a football coach who seconds as the AD?

Good question! I called and asked who in the community is going to be on this committee and all I got was evasive answers. IMHO, for the committee to be credible they need people from all aspects of the two communities. I also know that only 3 board members are on the selection committee but no one will identify them. I wonder why????

IMHO for the committee to be credible it DOES NOT need people from the community on it. It has three board members who were elected by the people on it. These people were voted in to represent the community. You would open a can of worms letting any joe shmo decide on a coach. Look what happened at Lamarque.

I agree with Old Dog...And as for answers on who will be on it and who wont, let the board decide, its what the citizens hired them to do....

Some people act as if they think every joe shmo who has interest in PNG football should be on the committee....

A couple thing I wan to comment are on why is everyone so harsh to judge before anything has been decided....Like who is on the committee....Who the applicants are....Who is in the Top 10....Who will be in the final 2 or 3.....

I guess my concern is that with the kind of postings I read when I first logged on it would give me a bad feeling about coming to PNGISD after reading the postings...JMO

I agree. The school board is not the evil, incapable group as some portray. And the constant negativity and bashing does create a poor impression. I'm sure the district is seeking opinions of those qualified to pick the finalists.

I agree with you IndianFan, I get sick of hearing some of the negativity from some on this forum. Some people complain just to complain, what I consider keyboard warriors. They hide behind the keyboard but never show up at any school board meetings to voice there opinions. If I was a outsider considering moving to the PNG area and read some of the comments on this board I was think twice about moving here. If you don't like it here then MOVE!!!
I am proud to be a resident of this community. I did not graduate from PNG but my kids did. They received top notch educations and learned Honor, Pride and Tradition.

my problem with the current school board is that they say one thing and do another thing. Also they do not represent the ppl that they are suppose to , they do what they want and not what the community wants. Also they think they are better than you and do not care what you say or what your concerns are! And for the person on the board that made all the accounting errors on the Bond should have resigned casue they are cutting money from what they were orginally suppose to do. So as long as this board is still intact i will vote against bond issue in the future! this board is run by a bunch of stuck up /aggaront/ big ego/ wannabe politcian!
