NOTICE TO POSTERS RE: HIJACKING THREADS

To all posters of this message-board:

As a moderator who has given countless hours to this board in the interest of seeing it grow to a place where all interested in PNG can communicate, I have been pushed to the limit with every thread being hijacked. Starting immediately, I will remove all posts that are not in line with the posted topic.

IndianFan created a Community Concerns forum in an effort to allow free speech on this board. However, some of you have taken to just hijacking threads so as not to post in that particular forum. For example, a thread concerning Fox News' Round Table is now a debate on the merits of the new stadium and, you guessed it, a b**ch session on the hiring process for the new coach. It has gone to the point tat no logic will be listened to. Many on this board know why things are going down the way they are, but a few still feel the need to take everything over and complain without giving the other side ay consideration. I know I speak for IndianFan when I say that the original intent of this web site, along with giving back to the community that gave o much to him, was to allow for positive communication between those her and those that have gone on to other areas. This board has gone way off of that original intent. As moderators, we are glad that all of you are here. We worked hard over the years trying to figure out how to grow the participation on this board. At this point in the year, we used to have 10 or o posters who were interested in soccer and baseball. You are all welcome here along with your individual view points. Keep it positive, and keep it on topic -- otherwise take it to the community concerns forum.

For those of you that choose not to heed this warning, don't bother to ask where all of your posts will have gone, I am telling you now that they will have been deleted.

Thank you,
pngfan93

pngfan93, thank you for your commitment to the effort here.

It would be nice to have a little more positive thought. Negativity begets more negativity. And can become a self fulfilling prophecy. While this message board is certainly intended as a forum to discuss the community, it's not intended as a launching pad or battle ground for every political disagreement. And was never intended to enable constant turmoil and argument. But there is an area to vent Community Concerns that is intended for such discussion. The remainder of the forums are here to hopefully discuss many of the positive things you have in PN and Groves including football. And it's okay to have a different opinion. But please don't use every topic under the sun to bash the school board.

I think most people realize that there are always competing interests and opinions in any community. PN and G are not perfect. But what place is? If it's me and I have a huge problem with a school board, etc, I would be searching to find the 'boots on the ground' and participate in the action committees that are in a lot of communities. Those folks are engaged with the decision makers.

It's as simple as that. I appreciate everyone here and hope you continue to find value in our virtual community. While it's always important to be aware of forces that threaten our ideals, I hope we all continue to seek and celebrate the positive. Life is too short to do otherwise.

You have free speech. You just have to do it in the right place. Not Surprised you would complain about this also.

Parent - They created the board, so yes they make the rules. Not always impartial, IndianFan does try.

We should try to comply with the rules, but ADMINS - you should also realize that sometimes one coversation leads to another. At that point, we can move it to the Community Concerns forum. Or do so before, we make our statement that leads to a different topic.

NDNParent, I started this message board 8 years ago. It's never been one dimensional and I don't appreciate being labeled a 'commie', 'dictator', 'insane', or any of the other quick judgments you're making. Neither myself nor the moderators deserve that. I would appreciate it if you would stop with the generalizations.

Without rules we'd have a cesspool like the old Smack Attack board. I'll pull the plug on this site before that's allowed to happen. FYI, the previous attempt by another party at providing a message board was abandoned because of that.

As an "outsider" , I think all in all the Mods on this board do a fine job and I believe those posting here should respect the guidelines that they have
set forth. I know from my experiences on other blogs/message boards that individuals due tend to stray from the posted thread subject...I am guilty as anyone, but
I believe some of it is due to an individual's anxiousness to get their idea/post down. However, we should be mindful to what the MOds have set down as guidlines. Remember,
without the efforts, time (and I assume expenses) of those willing to provide a community with a place to express ideas and banter back and forth, we wouldn't be here enjoying this forum

This sounds oddly familiar.... Like I said something about this sort of thing in another thread.... ;D

But seriously, thank you. I think everything has become a "new coach" or "coach applicants list" thread.

Hmmmmm,.....I don't recall anything about "Freedom of Speech" in the rules section. I guess I'll need to re-read it.

Freedom of Speech isn't all incompassing. It doesn't protect everything you want to say (even if some think it does). All the mods are asking is that you stay on topic and be respectful of other posters and other people in the community. If you ask me, thats a great way to approach it because we don't want to lose the voice that we have on this board. I love coming to this board and reading appropriate things. Lets keep it that way.

Thanks for posting the topic. I hope all the hijackers read and heed this thread. I have been on this message board for a couple of years now and recently I have to say I have been a little discouraged by all the negative off topic BS that has been posted by some. I mean really how many different ways can you post "the school board sucks". The sad thing is if the posters would put half as much energy into finding solutions to the problems of our district as they do spreading all the negative energy they might actually improve things around here.

My hat goes off to IndianFan for giving all the PNG faithful a place to express their opinions. Job Well done!

We as members of this community need to stick to the subject out of respect for the others on this board. If you really need to post your negative comments, do so in the appropriate place so that all those who care to partake in the school board bashing etc. can do so without infringing on others rights to "freedom from negativism".

Thanks PNGFan93 for clarifying the issue for everyone.

I have been a member of this board since it was started. I am one of those the depend on its existence to keep me in touch with my home and the team I love and played for. Although I continue to read, I have sat WAY in the back over the past year due to all the negativity, it was sickening and at times, I just didn't want to read it anymore. I APPLAUD the work the mods have done and am extremely thankful for this board/site's existence. People have always been envious of PN-G, and for good reason. I am proud of that fact. When we start this insane crap/bickering/finger pointing, etc., we become something we're not. We become one of "them". I eagerly await whoever we get to lead MY Indians. If you're not going to be supportive, go somewhere else and leave this site for the TRUE diehard fans win or lose. They'd love to have you on another site. Thank you Indianfan and team for all you do.
