Other Team's Noise Makers

Why can't we prevent visiting teams from bringing their home-field noise makers to Indian Stadium? I do not feel we should allow a team to bring some kind of horn on a trailer or cart(i.e.Lumberton, LC-M,etc.)!!! This takes away our home-field advantage. We should never let another team bring this in to Indian Stadium!! This is OUR FIELD NOT THEIR'S!! We give up our home-field advantage when we do this. It needs to STOP NOW!! Tell me what you think and how you think it can be stopped.

No one takes away home field advantage at the REZ ! The only way that could happen is if they brought oh say about 8 to 10 thousand fans ! a band bigger and better than ours and some woo hoo ladies !

The UIL has rules against using mechanical noisemakers in the football stadiums but no one seems to be enforcing this. Like I've always said, PNG fans do not need these artificial noisemakers---our fans make enough noise without them. One time in 40 years I had a guy blow an air horn in my ear and he never did it again! lol  Other teams need to get some fans and they wouldn't need them, either.

To me it's just the principal of the thing. IT IS OUR HOME FIELD AND THAT SHOULD BE USED TO OUR ADVANTAGE!!PERIOD!! We control what happens THEIR--NOT the visiting team.

Correct. it is incumbent upon the game administrator to enforce the rules. Those with mechanical noisemakers should be escorted out of the stadium. The game administrator is usually an admin from the host school. In this case I think that it would fall under MB responsibilities

I thought that MB was the new Transportation Director, took someone named Lee's place? He may have the outside field job too in order to keep his salary up for his last few years before retirement. Now that I think about it I do see hime at the games and looks like he was working. I assume he has multiple assignments to keep his salary at the $86,000+ mark that he had as the Head Coach?

Definitely the best job in the District pay to stress ratio. It's public knowledge anyone really know?

I know he has three very important jobs instead of one and he's very busy and should be respected and applauded for his years of service to the district.

from the UIL website...

Mascots and Noisemakers
• Local school districts are allowed to make more restrictive policies for their facilities and schools. Also, college/
professional/public entities may have more restrictive policies for their facilities.
• According to section 1208 (n) of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules:
MASCOTS, FIREARMS, PYROTECHNIC DEVICES, Balloons. Live animal mascots, cannons, firearms, fireworks,
etc. are prohibited at League athletic contests. Except in their normal course of business, emergency vehicles shall not
flash lights or sound sirens during the course of a game. Noisemakers are prohibited at League athletic events held
in field houses and/or gymnasiums. Releasing balloons is prohibited at League athletic events held outdoors.
• The UIL does allow “Pep” bands to play at basketball games before the game, at halftime and after the game only
by mutual agreement between the two schools.
• If the two schools agree the following guidelines should be followed to ensure a full appreciation of the group’s
performance. Band directors are reminded that as a courtesy to the teams and cheerleaders of both schools, performances
by the band should be limited to appropriate times.
Guidelines listed below indicate appropriate playing times for the band:
The band may play before the game begins. The director should coordinate the schedule so that the host school may
introduce team members.
The band may play at halftime of the contest.
The band may play at the end of the contest if desired.
Musical instruments may not be used as noisemakers during the contest.
• The director and his/her performing group should display courtesy and respect to players and cheerleaders by
playing at appropriate times.

I don't think the train horns take away any home field advantage that we have. To me, it is just INCREDIBLY ANNOYING and OBNOXIOUS. Looks like it is up to the discretion of the schools, so I think Matt Burnett should be contacted and asked to inform the visiting schools that their train horns are not welcome. The horns that LCM and Lumberton have are baby horns compared to Kilgore's. Does anyone remember how loud theirs was at SFA? I was getting a migraine from the other side of the stadium because it was so loud. Unfortunatley, they had a lot of oppurtunities to blow it that miserable night.

I listen to most games via www.pngindians.com and 92.5 online ... the Whoooooo-hooooo ladies don't bother me. I say, "Rock on, go early, stay late, and be loud." I'm glad we have fans passionate enough to keep season tickets for 30 and 40+ years, that some fans yell and scream, some fans clap, some don't, and some stand up and yell "Whooooooo-hoooooo." From this PN-G alum, "Rock on" ... we don't need cans filled with ball bearings, train horns, air horns, etc. Show up in mass and be loud.

Go Indians. Peace.

Did anyone else notice during the 1st quarter of the LCM game, PNG scored a TD and our receiver almost ran into the wagon that carries the train horn. Check out the webcast - about 32 min into the telecast. Major problem with that. If someone - a player - had been hurt because the idiots left their horn wagon too close to the field....well, just glad he wasn't hurt. My opinion - no mechanical noise makers.

I remember in 1999 Stephenville had this "dreaded" stinger noise maker. If I rememeber correctly it was 7-8 propane cans welded together and the students would shake them when the teams ran out on the field. The game started and there goes the cans - then HALF the Astrodome starts clapping and singing Cherokee!!!! I actually remember watching the boys slowly stop rattling the cans and their jaws just dropped. That's the kind of noise makers Indians need!!
