Pep-Rally Last Night

One thing for sure PN-G is gonna be huge on the lines. I cant be 100% sure from being so far away but Bailey looked a little taller this season. Very good looking group of players. The rest of the squad Indianettes, Band, Cheer and so on were amazing last night. The stadium was like a game. I had to park two blocks away. A lot of people showed up.

Bailey is definitely taller. Looks like he added some muscle too which is not unexpected after a sophomore season.

Expectations and excitement levels may reach an all time high this season!

I watched some videos of him throwing he has gotten even stronger and more accurate during his throwing session. He was throwing dimes from the 50 into the endzone. He was also nailing deep out routes over and over again. This young man is one heck of a QB. You can tell he has a combo of the traits of a great QB such as a fast release, good footwork, the ability to see the whole field, and read the defense. He also has top notch coaching. The last thing I would say based off last season he takes very good care of the football.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he tucks the ball and runs a few more times this year. He has some fast wheels which would add another dimension to the offense.

Today is the first Friday of the PN-G school year. I don't ever remember seeing as many parents posting pictures of their kids wearing purple to recognize the occasion as I've seen today.

The excitement is palpable. And I expect it to continue to grow as the wins start to mount this season.

If we can get a late season playoff game at NRG again this season (assuming they repair the roof), this might be the year we see crowds of 20,000+ in purple again.

And I'm hoping that Coach Joseph, Coach McDaniel and the entire staff are feeling it. Not every coach can live in the limelight but it doesn't minimize their contributions. Without the position coaches, not much can be accomplished. I'm hoping they all recognize how important they are to the community.

And I'm hoping that both coaches Joseph and McDaniel realize that they are living the life of two developing PN-G legends. Eventually to become state legends. The trajectory is set. That in itself is almost invaluable in terms of fulfilling a life purpose of coaching, mentoring student athletes and being a leader in a unique community that supports the school and football like no other. The situation in Port Neches is as good as it gets in high school football.

But lets get those facilities upgraded and on par with similar programs. Look at Barbers Hill and what they've done. And if PA Memorial can build a 50 yard practice field, PN-G sure as heck can do it or better! Room on campus is available. Worst case, move some parking areas around, and a new, relocated bus maintenance facility might be up for modernizing/relocating as well to keep the practice facility as close to the campus as possible.

To me the only logical place to put it is right behind the field house

I’ve already talked about ours at Texas High
We used it but if there was very bad weather (lightning) we couldn’t make the 125 yd walk to it from the field house
Mostly it’s for shade in summer IMO

I was thinking the same thing…it’s gotta be cheaper than a totally enclosed, climate controlled facility and more practical for multi-purpose use in my opinion. I still think the big field on Merriman next to the high school, where the Soccer team practices would be a PERFECT location for something like this. The other field, that’s next to it along Park St, where the band primarily practices, could be left as is, or possibly install turf.

We had an indoor field (complete with astroturf and lines) at TEXAS HIGH since the mid 70s
But it was a good 130 yards from the field house
And they wouldn’t let us walk in the lightning to the indoor facility (“the barn”)

So it really needs to be close enough to be covered to use other than for shade

And I’d say you don’t want to shade practices too much since half the season is blazing hot

I agree, closer is preferred. However, I’m not positive but I think the field right next to our field house wasn’t an option to build anything on because I believe there’s a pipeline underground or something like that. If close proximity to the field house is a necessity, that could be another reason the idea hasn’t been revisited.

Pipelines knocked out that original plan. Too bad those pipes can’t be rerouted. They must be 75 years old or more.

The next best option is where the bus maintenance building is and part of the old gym parking lot. A covered walk could be built from the field house to the facility. A new maintenance building could be built at the far end of the bus parking lot. Replacement parking would also have to be added somewhere.

Not likely because of the extra expense to do all that.

One benefit of building a 100 yard covered facility on one of the grass soccer fields is that it could truly become a community asset. Multiple district sports could use it as well as in district youth leagues. It could also be used as a protected area for something like city events. If that were the case perhaps it could be done with city and district funds.
