Play Cherokee over the scoreboard speakers ......for TD's

Our Band does a great job ...but when on the other end of the stands it is hard to hear sometimes......

Just for TD's it would be nice if played over the scoreboard speakers...maybe put a mic down in front of the band when they play Cherokee just for TD's though , :band: make it a special time!!!

We sit on Row 5 near the 50 yard line. When the Indian Singers are on the field singing the National Anthem, we can hear them in front of us and also through the scoreboard speakers and there is a short delay from the speakers. This would probably also occur if the band playing Cherokee was broadcast over the scoreboard speakers and the contrast would probably be even more pronounce. One solution would be to broadcast a recording of Cherokee but I don't think any of us would want to do that.

When I attend a University Houston game, the band sends out a small contingent of band members usually around 10 to show up in various parts of the stadium to play the Cougar fight song to get that section into the game. Why can't we put 10 or so band members on the track in front of sections down at the North end of the stadium. That way they could play Cherokee along with the band and the fans would be able to hear Cherokee and clap to the beat.

I agree with warpaint, playing Cherokee through the score board would be great especially for those of us not luck enough to sit by the band or on the 50 yard line. Right now, the only time we're hearing Cherokee in section E is at halftime. Nothing against the band, they do a great job, it's the way the sound is traveling through the new stadium. It's not getting to the rest of us. :shout:

I sit on the 50 in Sec. D. It's hard to heard them there too. I've heard several people around me make the same comment.

One solution would be to broadcast a recording of Cherokee but I don't think any of us would want to do that.

The speaker idea is great in theory, but would cause echo's and probably feedback issues. At Lamar(when they had a marching band) we would turn to whatever direction we wanted the sound to go to. I assume the band sits near 20 yardline. Could the band be sat in a way they could face the home crowd? Maybe turn to the left? May have to change seating of band members, but it might work.........just a thought......

I read you, loud and clear. This is one of many ideas that has been suggested. I expect that this suggestion and others will soon be brought to the attention of Mr. Wells via e-mail based on the posts I've read in the "Vote on Your Favorite Tempo for Cherokee" thread.

I read you, loud and clear. This is one of many ideas that has been suggested. I expect that this suggestion and others will soon be brought to the attention of Mr. Wells via e-mail based on the posts I've read in the "Vote on Your Favorite Tempo for Cherokee" thread.

To me the tempo thing is kinda funny, hope yall work it out........back in high school I used to hate hearing that song.........usually meant PNG scored another TD

TragicHippy, that's EXACTLY what I've been telling them on here. In fact, Mr.Long (former PNG band director) used to have us turn to the left, in an attempt blast the fans. But then again, we WERE marching 180 strong at the time too. Man, we could really fill up the field back then....military style too.

TragicHippy, that's EXACTLY what I've been telling them on here. In fact, Mr.Long (former PNG band director) used to have us turn to the left, in an attempt blast the fans. But then again, we WERE marching 180 strong at the time too. Man, we could really fill up the field back then....military style too.

I marched at TJ with probably close to 200.......we were taught to play as loud as we could without blasting......being a trombone player, I used to get in trouble for over powering the band.......When I got to Lamar, they told me louder......I LOVED IT!!

As for turning to the left, if you took it a step further, the band could sit in a way when they turned left and stood.....it would be same order of instruments like from bottom to top. In other words, tubas on left (from bottom to top) , flutes on right......so when they turn left the tubas would be at the back of the band and flutes up front.......

May be the band could atleast try it when there is not a game going on and see what happens !!!
