District 21-5A
Clinched Berth: Crosby, Houston C.E. King (DI), Dayton (DII)
Still Alive: Barbers Hill, Kingwood Park
Key Game: Barbers Hill vs. Kingwood Park, Crosby vs. Houston C.E. King
Far-reaching implications for Barbers Hill-Kingwood Park. First of all, the winner is in and the loser is out. If Kingwood Park gets in, Crosby would be the top DII seed, Houston King would be the top DI seed, Dayton would be the second DII seed and KP would be the second DI seed. If Barbers Hill gets in, Crosby goes to DI, making Crosby-King a battle for the top DI seed and turning Dayton into the top DII seed (and Barbers Hill the second DII seed).
District 22-5A
Clinched Berth: Beaumont Central (DI), Nederland, Port Neches-Groves (DII)
Still Alive: Baytown Goose Creek Memorial, Beaumont Ozen
Key Games: Baytown Goose Creek Memorial vs. Beaumont Ozen, Nederland vs. Lumberton, Port Neches-Groves vs. Vidor, Beaumont Central vs. Baytown Lee
There’s a chance that every game matters, and there’s a chance that only one game matters. The big game is GCM-Ozen; the winner is in the playoffs, and the loser is out. If GCM gets in, that would push Nederland to DII; if Ozen gets in, Nederland goes DI. Nederland holds a tiebreaker over both Central and PNG, so a Nederland win over Lumberton would clinch the top seed in whatever division they go to. Central can clinch the top DI seed with a GCM win over Ozen or a win over Lee and a Lumberton win over Nederland. PNG can clinch the top DII seed with a win over Vidor and an Ozen win over GCM.
