PN-G 22, Nederland 21

Summary
Nederland is not a good team. PN-G is a little better but shot themselves in the foot all night, but come back in the second half to take the win and the Bum Phillips trophy! Refs did their best to help Nederland win it. Way to christen the new field Indians!

Blake Bost is now a legend in the PN-G history books. His dad and brother were great Indians. Blake Bost is even better. His name will forever be remembered by PN-G Indians. He can go back to Nederland's football stadium anytime he wants and tell his kids, grandkids, friends and neighbors that he led the game winning drive...he made the plays...he threw the pass and the TE made the catch of a lifetime.

One more thing. Let's just put it out there. PN-G is a second half team in 2020. That is just the way it is. I'm good with that. My blood pressure and hair loss are not good with that, but, overall, I'm good with that. I'm learning to live with it. 22-21. Write it down and close the history book. God is a PN-G Indians fan. I'm not a Bible expert, I don't know the chapter and verse, but it is in the Good Book somewhere. Maybe the 11th Commandment - The PN-G Indians, thou shall win!

Go Indians. Peace.

Congrats Coach Faircloth on his 91st overall win, and third rivalry win in a row, and last 4 of 5. Only 6 more wins needed to become the all-time winningest head coach at PN-G.

Way to claw back players. You came back from a 14 point deficit to outscore the Dogs 22-7. Tighten up on defense and you will win some games! The offense is never out of it.

For the past three years, and four out of the last five, PN-G has held Nederland to 21 points. In an era of high scoring TX HS football, that is not too shabby.

2020: PN-G 22 Ned 21
2019: PN-G 27 Ned 21
2018: PN-G 34 Ned 21
2017: This was the hiccup...PN-G 35 - Ned 36
2016: PN-G 41 Ned 21

Go Indians. Peace.

Went back and watched the final drive. Defensive pass interference could have been called on the previous 2 plays, and the one that was called was accurate. I was really surprised at how easily the PNG receivers were getting open last night. The Indian passing game is very effective and getting better. The slightly off target throws and unfortunate dropped passes are something that can be improved with continued practice!

Kudos to Brady Nail on a clutch, 138 yard performance catching the ball last night. He was going up against Nederland's best defensive back and was consistently getting open and making critical receptions. Nail is continuing the PN-G tradition of great receivers. Grant Pearson and Carson Wallace also made big, big catches. Bergeron, Vaughn also made clutch catches to keep drives going, and Bergeron made the final TD catch. And Bost has a rifle for an arm.

I watched the entire game again. Coach Faircloth had the Indians possess the ball and that limited opportunities for Ned. Granted, Ned scored quickly with #10 running up and down the field, but give the Indians credit for sustaining drives and converting 3rd and 4th downs. I don’t want to hear Ned complain about officiating. The calls you pointed out were correct. On top of that, Ned had a 14-0 lead and PN-G out scored them 22-7 the rest of the way. That had nothing to do with officiating. The refs did not play defense. PN-G recovered a fumble for a shot at a game winning drive. That had nothing to do with officiating. Bost made big time throws. That had nothing to do with officiating. Conner ran the ball well enough to keep the offense balanced. That had nothing to do with officiating. And, PN-G had its fair share of bad calls. The offensive PI call against Brady Nail was as bad as it gets; constant illegal men down field after we converted two first downs; and we had to recover back-to-back fumbles. 52-38-7. End of discussion.

Go Indians. Peace.

I guess PA news no longer post the box score with full stats on their website. I would be interested to see what the number of penalties for each team and yardage. Already seen Ned fans saying the refs let us win.

The PA News is a shell of what it used to be. One sports reporter and no in-depth coverage of PN-G. No box scores or post-game interviews. Sad.

Go Indians!

The refs helped keep them in the game. Other than the running back, Nederland is just not very good. PAM, United and Tomball were all bigger challenges.

Because you don't want to risk a turnover that Ned returns for 2 points and you lose. Think back to the Central 2009 game where PNG blocked the extra point with no time left and Dre Dunbar ran it back to tie the game with no time left on the clock. Gotta avoid that situation.
That was my point in asking. A blocked PAT could be disastrous. Did we take a knee?
