Our most impressive win. Maybe besides Crosby but that one was a nail biter. Credit to the Defense. BH WRs could have played better. I’m impressed with our run defense most of all. Several screen passes sniffed out. Looking good. I believe that (once again) clinches us a playoff spot and puts Crosby behind the 8 ball.

Our Offense has become one dimensional and Nederland is very balanced. If we don’t find more than RJ on offense it’ll be along game and short playoffs for the Indians.

With 100% respect to the great athletes at RB. You CAN’T run around the defense. Go TOWARD the defender and try to slip around him. The fakes are done within fingertip reach of the defender. This is what Roschon does. Tonight he slipped in through tiny tiny gaps that most of the runners on the team run away from. When you take the momentum in the favor of the defender. (Laterally) You give him ZERO chance of a missed tackle. Tackling is harder now than ever and this principle Was also true in the “old school” times Give the defender a chance to “miss you” this can’t be done when running laterally to avoid being tackled. We need at least ONE running back exactly like #30 tonight for Barber’s Hill. Even though we stifled him - (it would have been a closer game if they had run him more) that’s (IMO) what this offense needs. Pretend there’s a timer on your run (because there is) and get as many yards as you can (even if it’s 2-3yds) in that timed run (if no one tackles you keep going) please stop running laterally. It has not worked in 10 games. Not once that I can remember I’ve been to them all this year. When the RB gets yards it’s North South in a quick hit manner. (Jet sweep(the exception) has been relatively non existent this year compared to past years). Emmitt Smith was a master of running 2-3 MORE yards than an average RB would get on the SAME carry. That’s what makes a running back great. (Not the 70 yard runs) those 2-3 yards change the drive and make it easier on the QB. No one’s as good of a runner as Roschon but we don’t NEED that we need a RB that once the D converges (not your fault) you gain ONE or TWO more yards than you should have. The minute you go lateral the run is over. Hope this is ok to post you guys are all better football players than I ever was. With respect.

Not even RJ has enough speed to outrun a defense laterally that's already expecting him to run. And with the depleted offensive line, it's not going to get any easier. The lineman most effective at pulling and getting out in front of the runner, Jacob Osbourne, is injured. The offensive line still needs a lot of work on holding blocks.

There has to be a back on that team that can run with more power. Williams occasionally picks up yards when the hole is there, but just does not have the size, power or speed to be effective on a normal play. Deslatte is more of that upfield runner and actually is good at making quick moves to avoid tacklers.

Why isn't #41 Conner playing? On that long TD run against Santa Fe he broke through a gang of tacklers and then outran them all. If the INdians had a consistent running back threat, in addition to the threat of RJ keeping it on the option, it would be incredible. A good defense is going to stop RJ at some point. He'll never get out of the backfield.

I dont want to sound negetive but if nederland does excally wat they did last year on defence we will get beat again. Spy on RJ double our best receiver this game will get ugly qick. It seems to me most of the yards on offence is RJ running and throwing to
#21 Jose. Last year we got beat and had some wat of a running game and had mulitiple good receivers IMO JS

The Indians have multiple other receivers that can catch the ball. Nail, Hammond, Wuenschel, Billeaud, Proenza, Pippin, and probably a couple of others.
But the passing plays seem to be focused on the primary receiver. If Johnson had better blocking and more time to see the field maybe he could look at second of third options.

Everything on offense begins with solid blocking. Without it you end up with semi-controlled chaos, and rushed decisions.

BH QB was not accurate. He missed open WRs. When he got close to making a few connections, the WRs dropped the ball. Had BH made some catches in the passing game, the game would have been a lot closer. The turning point was RJ's long 50-60 yard TD run, which he did mostly by himself. He turned on the jets and it was over.

PN-G's OL is big, but BH was in the Indian backfield all night long. No sustained blocks. BH shut down the run game by #19. Incredibly, RJ #2 made defenders miss in the backfield and he found a few cracks to slither through for positive yards. Nederland will completely shut down the Indian run game if the OL can't hold blocks. I went to the BH game hoping to see the RB sensation #41. Did not see him carry the ball. Did I blink and miss him? Why not play the best players regardless of classification? Defense played well for the most part. The DL and LBs play hard, run to the ball, and made a lot of tackles at the line of scrimmage. The blitz packages created chaos for the BH QB. I'm afraid that Nederland will expose the DBs. BH didn't because their QB was inaccurate. Hope I'm wrong about next week.

Go Indians. Peace.
