Just like "PRO" wrestling. Some people buy tickets because they like the good guy and some buy tickets because they hate the bad guy. Either way they buy tickets. In the HS case they don't even break even with ticket sales but the important thing in HS is support and participation. I welcome both sides.

For instance. Look at the CS band. This is confirmation (to me) that their success in football is somehow being artificially propped up. (Dig deeper we ll find it) not dogging on their band they just were about at the level of South Houston etc.

Point being for every elite DI prospect on the football team there should be a certain number of trumpet players/drummers/clarinets in that population of students. Logically.

Found it (probably) College View High "smaller" with no sports teams. So in other words if you have zero interest in sports you go there. That keeps the numbers down for the other schools to compete where they want. PNG needs to open a second high school with no athletics. Send any kid who wants that there and start PNG competing at the 4A level. Presto.

Something else to consider defensively. I watched a college game from 1997 The other day and I'd say over half of the tackles would result in a personal foul today. Also the addition of the defenseless receiver penalty you know that makes a difference for the receiver know he's not gonna take a big hit after an incomplete pass as many times in a game not only does the defensive player risk personal foul he also risks ejection from the game if he tackles incorrectly. You would think this has to resulting in increased offensive point totals today

I agree Mr Buddy I'm on your side I have a son that plays for PNG so I've been around a while these are two of the best coach's in the state. They have limited resources to choose from and do the best they can with the hand dealt to them. It's easy to Sunday and Monday 2nd guess the coaches. I'm happy to say that I'm proud of the coaching staff at PNG , my son graduates this year I can honestly say this has been the best time of my life watching my son play for BF AND HIS STAFF, I will continue following the PNG Indians and great staff they have at PNG. The PNG and PAM game was one of the best HS football games I've ever watched due to two great coaches

Perhaps the pain of the loss is too fresh to have a pragmatic discussion. I just removed my comments. For the record, I have no ill will towards anyone.

Anyone who questions my support of PNGHS and the football program has not been around the past 17+ seasons.

usetocould... the CS Band was not at the game. They were at competition per the CS announcer. Those that were on the field were previous year and some underclassmen volunteering

I’m not clear on what your point is; but they made an announcement at halftime that most of th CS band were competing at a region competition so the band at the game was made up of past, present and future band members.

There is no desire on my part for conversation of better defense to turn into a discussion about coaching staff. That’s a slippery slope and wasn’t the intent.

The Indians played a better team that they couldn’t defend or outscore. I’m sure the coaching staff will think about ways to improve, and the returning players will work hard.

I made two games this weekend and came away disappointed in both end results.

1. PAM v. Temple. First, PV A&M has a nice stadium. A beautiful first class stadium. It was my first time visiting the campus of PV A&M. The stadium is brand new. Terrific lighting, beautiful field turf, and not a bad seat from where I sat on the 30 yard line. The deep/royal purple on the sidelines and in the end zones were sharp looks on that field turf. Major thumbs-up to PV A&M for a beautiful facility. I can't imagine why more high schools don't choose that venue. Second, thumbs up to the PAM crowd. Nice crowd from PA. Good numbers. The game was great. Lots of big plays, e.g., kick-off returns, big runs, big pass plays. PAM left it all on the field. I'd like to see Temple's 2nd TD in the first half on slo-mo replay. I'm not sure the Temple WR was in bounds. Looked like he ran through the end zone and did not get a foot down. PAM got beat with seconds left. #3 from Temple was an amazing athlete. Long pass plays all night and a big KO return. Sorry for the PAM faithful. Great game, terrible outcome. PAM QB #7 = warrior. Tough kid. Temple hit him all night long and he kept getting up and making the next play. #25 for PAM never really got going. Question for PAM fans/coaches, why not get the kid in open space more? Running the zone/read sweep and up the middle are not the strengths of #25. In college, throw him a swing pass and he'll be dynamite. WR #13 for PAM was small in size, but he played BIG...he caught everything...and his KO return was awesome.

2. PN-G v. College Station. CS was bigger, stronger, and faster across the board. PN-G had no answer for CS QB #1. Fastest/quickest kid on the field...maybe the best player PN-G played all season. Tulsa is getting a steal recruiting this kid. He easily beat PN-G to the perimeter and on scrambles, he was quicker/faster than anyone PN-G had on the field. CS O-Line and D-Line controlled the line of scrimmage. Big and physical in the trenches. CS RB had no trouble getting to the second level. When QB hit the second level, he was gone to the end zone. PN-G needed its best game of the year and it just wasn't meant to be. That's OK. Sometimes the other team is just better than you. That was the case yesterday. PN-G played hard, didn't quit, and I walked away thinking, (a) we need better defense, and (b) even if we had a better defense yesterday, I'm not sure the outcome would have been different. Proud of the PN-G kids for playing with great effort and keeping their composure. Hold your heads high...you played the game the right way and never gave up. Thanks to all of the PN-G kids and coaches for a great ride in 2017. I enjoyed watching the TC game at NRG and yesterday's game vs. CS in Humble. I'm thinking of going to the FB Marshall vs. CS game. I'm wondering if FB Marshall has enough on defense to contain CS QB #1. That little guy was amazing vs. PN-G. Little, but fast and tough.

Go Indians. Great season. Peace.

I must have been at the concession stand during the announcement. My main point is that two unusually good/deep teams are brand new schools. I don't believe there isn't some maneuvering of the student body to be in 5A and to provide the best athletes. Example Manvel separating from Alvis who has been not so good for the last several years.

Ahh... okay, got it. I believe College Station Independent School District only has two high schools (CSHS and A&M Consolidated) and both participate in 5A. Check out these stats from the CSHS website:

2016 was just our 3rd season competing in a UIL District

14-1 Record, 5A State Semi-Finalist

3rd Consecutive Playoff Appearance (3 for 3)

Back-to-Back District Championships

#1 Offense in 18-5A (432 yds/game, 46.2 points/game)

#1 Defense in 18-5A (265 yds/game, 14.7 points/game)

J.V. Undefeated District Champions (10-0)

9th Grade Undefeated District Champions (9-0)

32 Wins in First 3 Seasons, 9 Playoff Games

Kind of puts things into prospective cross the river to the west and, with the exception of WOS, No area teams do well

Days of the local HS going all the way are over. '

College View. That's the third high school with no UIL sports. They do have choir at least. That draws a different type student away from the other schools.

I think it's possible for a few GTriangle schools to win state. I just don't expect it. Especially if PNG were to drop down to 4A for some reason (I know it's not that close) they would be closer to a Carthage or WoS football would not suffer from the loss of students IMO. I love PNG for the community. Even though I love football it's not just for the football I participate when possible.

Wouldn't have mattered, but that first TD should have been ruled a fumble and touchback.

Ball is loose at the 1.
