Even though the discussion has been mostly negative regarding this years team, there were several bright spots in the game with Lumberton. I watched the entire game again. AJ really did very well. His passing improved and we all know he has the wheels to run into the endzone. After watching the game again, Clopton is a very talented athlete who can benefit the team at both tight end and running back. He ran over several defenders when he stepped in at running back. AJ took the offense and took control. On the sacks, Lumberton sent as many as 7 on the rush and blitz. hard to defend that many defenders with 5 O linemen.
Defense. The inside tackle to tackle game is very solid. Difficult to run inside on PNG. Everytime lumberton tried they were stuffed. Their power sweeps to the outside hurt us early on. Once the extra secondary player was put in then the containment got better. Secondary needs more practice and tackling drills. But overall there were tons of positives to take from the game on both sides of the ball.
If our secondary can mesh better and put up better outside containment on LCM and cover their good receiver then we will win.
LCM has somewhat of a weak D this year. Their power is in their O with their back. They run a similar offense as Lumberton but spread it out a bit more. Lots of tight end on the line to help block. lots of student body left and right with their back. Quick passes to the outside and receiver screens.
This will be another great game and test for our team. Lets all support the boys !
Our O will get it going and AJ will take the control and put the points up. Our D will contain their QB and put the pressure on him and have a better containment on the outsides.
