I think everyone just needs to puff the peacepipe and get along!!!!!
No one heard me complaining. Time will tell if he's worth it and I think he will be so I'm reserving final judgment for now. Until then, give him whatever he needs/wants. I want our football program to have the highest tech equipment and the best coaches because we already have the best boys! I'm glad he's got the cojones to ask for what he needs--we need leaders who aren't afraid of laying it all on the line. My complaint, my only complaint, was about the process being so "secretive". People need to stand for what they believe in. There's no need to be secretive when I think we all want the same thing--an awesome, successful athletic program for our sons. The process is over, so now lets "get it done" and give the Coach everything he wants. God knows, he will earn it.

This probably needs to be in another thread but I want to explain myself about asking the "money" questions.

First, yes I know football rules, football is awesome, football is great (bows and makes the sign of the cross). Not trying to take anything away from football or our New HC/AD - I am sure he has big plans and he is smart for asking for all this stuff now.

But when other schools in the district ask for things and are told there is no money for this, that and the other, then it makes one wonder where all this other money is coming from - are we growing money on trees now or did we find Lafitte's treasure or what? And some of the items that the other schools are asking for are far more important to our children's education than what I am seeing the money being spent on. If some sort of arrangements are being made for next school year for these other schools requested items then, hey that's great. It just doesn't appear that way when you are told "no, you have to make due with what you have and be happy about it". I just don't understand why and how we can justify football items over education needs. Or why we can't have both. Then it is a win - win situation.

I mentioned coaches... ;D

Can you please move it for me - I don't know how to do that. Or do you mean just make future comments in the other thread?

Folks, you have got to start looking at the Football program as a profit maker. You ask why is approval so easy for the tech equipment for football, but other educational issues are squashed. Well one big reason...A good football program makes money for the district. It is a business. How do you improve a business? You must invest in it!

Also, last year the district put these expensive Computer Whiteboards in every classroom (some that never use them and never will because of the level of education in those rooms). So to say that the educators are being deprived of technological advances because of the football program is bogus. The wastes are not in the sports arena, they are in areas like this where the district has spent money that they did not need to spend. Whiteboards where not needed in Special Needs classes!

I totally agree.

1. Ticket sales during past playoff runs financed a lot of things. The upgrades to the stadium in 76-77 were paid with that income stream.

2. The athletic programs at PN-G have been underfunded for years.

Given those two facts, the requests by Coach and AD Faircloth seem very reasonable.

The recent upgrades to the stadium could be viewed the same way.

I understand that football in a profit maker, but so are our kids - they are the major investment. And I am not only talking about equipment, some of which was decided for the teachers instead of asking them what they need. Just things like that.

I don't know of any school districts that provide everything the teachers want or need. Heck, not even my employer does that and our efforts make/save millions! It's all business.

Bottom line is we are one the top and most respected school districts in the state. Lets not start acting like our kids are not given every opportunity to learn and be successful because we are PLAYING CATCH UP to most schools in our area in the athletics department. Let's get a Booster Club going and I am sure there is plenty of will donors out there that would help the athletic program financially.
