If Gizzi is our OC of the future we need to send to to some training and camps.

Let’s polish up the resume and help him get promoted to a Head Coach/salary increase in Division two or Division three where his talents can be appreciated.
Resume says QB coach on a 13-3 state finalist.
Resume says QB coach on a 15-1 state champs.
Resume says OC on a 10-2 team.
Strike while the iron is hot. Once this year’s senior laden talented offensive team graduates there are no guarantees in the future.

Enjoyed the game in-person.

1. Where was the PNG home crowd?

2. The PNG defense played well. The DL played outstanding. #94 was disruptive all night putting pressure on the QB and shutting down Hallsville's run game.

3. The second half start was...meh. It's human nature to ease off the gas pedal when you are in total control. 23-0 at the half---PNG was in control of the game.

4. Need the back-ups to hang-on to the football. We can't give playoff teams short fields.

5. Absolutely loved the play action throw back to the TE #88. He was wide open. He's a weapon in the passing game. It was nice to hit #19 with the crossing route early in the game and #44 in the flat for a TD. Need all those weapons in the playoffs going forward.

6. No one is better than Chief Joseph or DC McDaniel at preparing for playoff football games. They seem to take it up a notch when the playoffs arrive. They are incredibly good at taking away the other team's strength. PNG shut down Hallsville's run game. We had kids all around the football. We didn't always make the tackle, but our kids were in the right spots.

On to round 2. It's always nice to go back to The Reservation. GO INDIANS!

I thought we played pretty good on both sides of the ball for the most part, with the only real exception being that we had way too many offensive penalties. Overall, a good tuneup for what is likely to be a more difficult game next week.

There was a glitch in the ticketing process that made it look like all the reserved seating was sold out early. They later sent out an email about it, but the damage was probably already done as some people probably didn’t bother after it showed sold out.

A few folks may have been sitting on the visitor's side. But we ended up with tickets given to us, and so we sat on our side of the field. I don't know if it's my computer or theirs, but I've had issues when it's a high attendance game this season. We no longer have season tickets, so now it's hand to mouth for home games.
Anyway, I was pleased with the aggressive play last night, the multiple motion penalties notwithstanding. And the kickoff team got better as the game progressed. My only other comment is that we'd better fully expect trick plays from the opposition now going forward; it's pretty much a given. One last comment is that I hated seeing #15 "ride" himself to the sideline on that scooter; he sure is missed.

You can watch a few videos on YouTube.

I think the game will be a slugfest. Kaufman is pretty good. They have size on defense. I have a feeling they will stuff our run game. We need to be diverse on offense and finish drives with TDs. Big step-up from the Hallsville game. If PN-G doesn't play well, the kids will be reporting to PE the following Monday.

I just watched the highlights of their win last night vs. Hillcrest. All I can say is yikes! Our guys need to be ready for a slugfest.. especially in the secondary. Their QB threw for 263 yards and 4 TDs. He scrambles well, finds the open receiver, and throws darts. Their D-line is big and the DBs are quick, but we should be able to move the ball against them if we diversify the play calling. This will be a great test! Beating a team like this will definitely prepare us for the teams to come.

Based on what I can tell, Hillcrest is not very good, so Kaufman’s performance against them might not tell us much. They clearly appear to be better than Hallsville, and the fact that they appear to be a good passing team will pose challenges since our pass defense seems to be a relative weakness. However, with the proper defensive game plan and a good offensive performance we should be up for the challenge. It is probably the type of game where we cannot afford to take them lightly or to make a lot of mistakes and expect a W, but also one where we should win if we play anywhere near the level of our capabilities.

I agree. We need to play mistake free ball and NOT take them lightly. Hopefully our OC has some plays up his sleeve that we haven't seen.

This coaching staff plays for championships
Not to impress the fans
That (the opposite) will (might) be THS’s downfall I’m sorry to say
Whether it’s against us or someone else.
(I’ll be sad to see either on of us go out if/when it comes to that)
There’s no way there’s not more in a heavy H back system in store when we need it
(We regularly have 3 backs line up inside the tackle box)

We were coming back to win it vs Nederland we just had some player error (it happens)
That’s not coaching it’s just a fact of football.
I’m ok with only beating Hallsville by 3 TD especially with a game being recorded for all to see (anyone notice there’s not any THS games still available on Texarkana Gameday?) they were there for the opponents to scout two weeks ago
That’s this systems philosophy - get up 2 scores then let the air out of the ball
It’s true things haven’t been working the way we’d like them to

That’s just how it goes
But we have a state champion for the first time in 48 years - let that sink in
We were regularly going 3 rounds deep then losing to FBM or College Station etc
(Honorably) and we had (presumably) some of the greatest offensive players and minds in our history (and scored insane amounts of points)
