PNGHS was evacuated and classes cancelled today !

There was or still is a gas leak at the HS. Students were evacuated and classes were later cancelled. I got a call around 1:30 from my son to pick him up because school was cancelled due to a bad gas leak somewhere on campus. He said that the football teams will practice later today.

Yes, there was a gas leak at the HS this morning and the kids were released around 12:15 or so. The kids said it was capped but who really knows.

Yep I heard it was capped and they let the students back in and then still had gas leaking and thats apparently when they decided to let the students go home. I guess better safe than sorry !

We were told that it was capped when we were let back into the building. We returned to our 6th period class and sat... and sat... and sat... until finally the teachers were told that we would be dismissed, which occured about ten minutes later. Why school didn't resume is still a mystery to me (I assume that they wanted time for the natural gas that had seeped out to clear out of the building). I do know that the football team started practice around 1:45 - just as they normally do - but on the band's practice field rather than in the stadium. At 3:30, they turned it over to us and we began our practice.

That makes sense. We were well into B Lunch when we were dismissed.

That is what the kids told me also. Once they were allowed back in 2 lunch periods had passed or something like that.

I was told it was capped and safe to return to the building, but it was the line that fed the cafeteria. No way to feed the kids, so they had to do early release.

What happened to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with an apple? J/K Hopefully no major mishaps happen while students and teachers are in school with so much construction going on. Really never thought about it until this happened. Hopefully everything goes smoother with the rest of it.
