From todays press conference : (Source orange bloods.com)

Beck on Roschon Johnson’s switch from quarterback to running back: “He's done a great job. He's an incredible athlete, and very selfless right now in what he's doing. Obviously, it’s been well documented. Had a couple guys get just dinged up, and miss a day or two of practice. He said, coach, I'll go there. You know he wants to play. He's a competitor. He's driven. We put him back there one day, and all of a sudden he made some guys miss and turned 21 miles an hour. And we're like, hey, looks pretty good. He was having fun. I think he realized where he fitted the quarterback room. He said, coach, I'll do whatever we need to do. But our future plans for him, obviously, are still quarterback.”

Re: Roshan Johnson

Happy to read that quote about his future. I agree with everyone on this message board about his great work ethic, team-first mentality, great attitude, and willingness to do whatever his teams needs him to do. It is great that he will get an opportunity to play. That said, I hope that his future is at the QB spot. He has God-given talents, he has put in the hard work, and he has all of the tools to be a top-notch QB. He can throw the ball all over the field, he can read defenses, he has intelligence and passion, and he has the "IT" factor when he plays QB. He has worked hard and he has earned the right to play QB...or at least have a shot to play QB. Happy for him at UT and doing what his team needs for success. Happy that he will get some playing time. I hope that he stays injury free. I hope that he gets to go back to the QB spot. I think he will be huge success at QB. He throws a beautiful deep ball. Tight spin, nice arc, and lots of air under the ball. Talent + hard work = success. He has that equation down.

Go Indians. Peace.

Nice. Apparently there was a big crowd response on his first carry. He might get some next week with Whittington hobbled a bit.

Re: Roshan Johnson

That last TD should have been his. Thompson pulled the ball back and kept it himself with Roschon practically over the goal line with the ball. Hated to see that.

That situation has got to be tough to deal with. All the more reason he probably wants to get on the field and show the coaches and team what he can do as opposed to sitting on the sidelines indefinitely. So many years of working hard to get to this spot. But he's young and will show them. Another week or two with the RB gig and he'll be breaking long runs.

Probably purposeful on his part. Can’t let your competition show out.

To paraphrase...

He's expected to be out at least 6 weeks.

Keaontay Ingram and Roschon Johnson are the two tailbacks. David Gbenda moved to tailback, will be practicing and playing there until Kirk Johnson and Daniel Young are healthy. LB David Gbenda has been moved to the offensive side of the football.

More notes from Tom Herman press conference:

On Roschon ... He's taken to RB like a fish to water. He's a really competitive guy, when he makes a mistake he's really hard on himself. They have to tell him, you've been playing this position for 10 days, you're not going to be perfect. Has no doubts he'll play well because he's that type of competitor.

On the RB situation and how it changes their approach on how they attack ... It doesn't. If both RBs get hurt, the game plan will change significantly. LSU is really good against the run, so that could be a factor. But it will not change the game plan. They're confident in Ingram, confident in Roschon.

Sorry but Casey Thompson isn’t even in Roschon’s league when it comes to QB. And Roschon had better mechanics in 9th grade than Thompson has right now. Not sorry.
