Roschon Johnson’s incredible TD run

I don’t mind saying it again, I still think he is underused/misused. (This coming from a decades long UT fan.) And if Texas had a decent line and RJ Had gotten more playing time like he earned, he would have put up a lot more yards and TDs.

Typical Texas Longhorn fans who frequent social media are more focused on the next great recruit versus seeing an already great recruit see playing time and development. ‘Recruit boys’ is a good term for those jokers. The same thing pushed Dustin Long aside back in 2001-2002 at A&M.

He has so much talent...every time he touches the football, he is a threat to score. I would still love to see him back at the QB spot. He threw beautiful bombs to Preston Riggs. He could throw with touch or he could throw lasers. His legs are great, but so are his arm, field vision, and his ability to extend plays and distribute the football to open WRs. Great player.

Go Indians. Peace.

True but at a bulked up 230+ he may not be quite as ‘quick’ as his soph and junior years at PNG When he was 50 pounds lighter. I noticed a slight reduction his senior year when he was 200+ pounds.

Texas declared early on that his throwing mechanics needed to change. That derailed a lot of things QB wise. I personally don’t think Tom Herman and staff knew WTH they were doing. Of course those guys are gone now but RJ is pretty much at RB now. His shot at the NFL will be at RB but he could be a Taysom Hill type of player with multiple talents. RJ can run with power and speed, he can catch, he can throw and he can block. And most importantly he can see the field and make decisions like a QB. Shame on Texas for not using his skillset more completely to this point. Maybe the new staff will change that.

I also find it beyond funny that the recruit fanatics have already anointed Bijan Robinson as a future Heisman Trophy winner and declared that no other running back need touch the ball. We’ll see how that plays out but I’m not on board that unlikely train. RJ brings more to the table than Robinson in overall skills and determination, but his playing time will be in question next season if the new coach plays that game. Here’s to believing that Sarkisian will give RJ a chance to shine in the new offense.

I was disappointed to not see a jet sweep pass at any point in the past two seasons. To me it seems indefensible. Send that side WR on a go pattern. The CB has to choose between stopping the ball carrier and covering the streaking WR.

Wow, I haven't been following the news much and didn't realize the Ingram transferred to USC. I think it's safe to say though that he is still RB2 behind Bijan unless he gets a chance in practice to really show his stuff with the 1's. (I think he is RB1 though, but for whatever the reason, he seems to always be slated at RB2 no matter who RB1 was at the time).

Unfortunately, I think that comes along with being recruited as a QB. To be honest I think Bijan is the better running back, but I think RJ is the better athlete.

No doubt Robinson is talented and has the advantage of always being a running back. And that RJ is a more complete and football intelligent player who is underutilized. He’s a QB who quickly learns and understands offenses. Also proven to be a better blocker and pure power option. My primary gripe is he has not seen as many earned opportunities to demonstrate and improve with game reps, and build more confidence and experience as a RB. And when he has gotten carries they were often poorly blocked plays.

Apologies for the ramblings. I’m just a disgruntled, long-long-longtime UT fan who 100% supports our fellow PN-G alumnus on the team. :)
