there are 10 or 11 varsity returners from last year. They should be competitive this year.

Mallory and Katy have signed college scholarships and Haley has verbally committed.

Not sure of JV, as I am not sure of all who are trying out.

I heard today that there may not be many home games this year, since the ballpark in under construction.

By the way, I hope the district is not paying for the construction labor by the hour. They have been working in that area since the summer. Maybe someone on here can update us on the project.

Other than the new restroom/concession building, are either of the ballparks being renovated? The seats used for softball used to be along the baselines in the baseball park. Would be nice to see new aluminum bleachers in both parks.

not sure about bleachers. We were told we were getting new ones, then were told we were getting the ones that used to be student section for football, then told those were destroyed, so I am not sure. The old ragged wood one are still there, which leads me to think that we are not getting any right now.

We are grateful for the restrooms and concession stand. The building is gonna also have indoor batting cages, which will be really nice. I also saw that they were getting the parking lot ready for cement.

I just don't understand the time frame for all of these projects. Can that be explained?

Are the paving the practice field that is parallel with Park Street? Or the grassy areas where people have always parked for baseball/softball?

Not the practice fields, no (thankfully). But they are paving the old parking areas.

the new parking lot is going to be much smaller because the tennis courts had to be moved over to make room for the pond. But it will be soooo much nicer.

Too bad. The other lot would have added much needed, easy accessible parking for the football stadium and baseball/softball.

I BELIEVE SOME OF THOSE PLANS WERE SCRAPPED DUE TO THE BUDGET. i AM NOT SURE IF YOU HAVE RIDDEN BY LATELY, BUT THEY HAVE CLEARED THE LOTS ACROSS FROM THE BARN BUILDING. MAYBE THEY PLAN TO UTILIZE THAT FOR SOME KIND OF PARKING FOR FOOTBALL. BANDKID MAY KNOW MORE THAN I DO AND CAN UPDATE US

Some friends and I were talking about that the other day. We don't know why. I thought all that land belonged to the refinery because the railroad tracks run through there.

When I was sitting in on Bond Committee meetings, SHW presentations had that property marked as though it belonged to the district. I am trying to find some of those graphics, but I'm being unsuccessful.

I work for ISP...that land doesn't belong to us or TPC. That's PNGISD land. They need to build a new maint. shop and bus barn on that land and pave the existing bus barn and maint. shop (after they level it of course). This would create parking near the stadium along with the demo of the north wing and turning it into parking, which is in the plans.

We had a parents meeting last night and Coach Fontenot said that the roster would be posted on the softball site on the school website. They probably just have not gotten around to it yet. There are 14 girls on the varsity team this year.

She told us the first home game is scheduled for March 1 against Nederland. However, she it all depends on the construction. the weather lately doesn't help.

the softball team went 3 and 2 in the tournament. They lost 9-6 to #1 ranked 5A Pearland and lost 7 to 0 to a very good Santa Fe on Thursday. Too many errors on the day.

On Friday they came from behind to beat South Houston 5-3. Friday evening they tied the score at 1 apiece with a great clutch hit from Shelby Blanchard. Brittnee Moore had the game winning RBI in the 8th. Brittnee pitched all 8 innings for this nail biter.

Today, they won 2 to 0 against Marshall. Katie Austin got win in that game.

They played well, but need to get the bats going.

Overall, I think the coaches should be pleased.
