Some Post Livingston Thoughts....

Noticed our defense played something new last night instead of their usual 3-4. Six or seven linemen, 3 LB and 1 safety....must have been a modified Split-6. I'm supposing that was to defend the flanks. It didn't work too well...#14 took advantage of the soft corners and #24 ran though gaping holes off tackle all night. I applaud the idea but the execution wasn't there.
Everyone's talking about the misconduct penalty late in the game that killed us. What REALLYwas our doom was the unfortunate third down flat pass to Amir late in the fourth quarter that was stopped for a loss. We had to punt and of course the rest is history. Why abandon the short square in that was working all night? I guess you roll the dice on plays and takes your chances. ???

Yeah, I've always hated that flats pass. I don't like having a receiver out there unprotected like that. BUT, it does work really well at times, just not last night.

Sorry if this seems brutaly honest, but it is what it is. We should have won that game. Livingston was able to stall our offense twice, which they had no business doing. First series, ok, we are still feeling it out. But, after that, unacceptable IMO. Their defense was letting us have our way with them even moreso than our defense was. Our receivers were setting up camp 10 yds out.....all of them, with no coverage. Bertrand was avg 7 yds per carry, and was doing it easily. So, we get a 2nd and 1 and throw a deep ball to make it 3rd and 1. Then, we throw a pass to Jaloli 4yds in back of the line that gets stuffed and makes it 4th and 4. As soon as I realized we were punting I knew we lost. Why not go for it? Where does the confidence come in thinking we can punt and stop them? All that did was take an extra minute and a half off the clock by giving them more field to drive. I thought our offense did a great job and should have never been stopped with what Livingston was giving us. Our strategy in the 4th quarter lost that game. This was a checkers match, and Livingston was playing good checkers matching us King for King....unfortunately, we seemed to have a strategy of chess...sometimes its not that difficult, just do what is working. I feel this is 2 wins that were flushed down the toilet in the final minutes.

A Livingston linebacker told one of our lineman after the game our offense was the best he had EVER faced !

Only statement I have is our LB are too small and too soft. They were getting blown 10-15 yrds each play.

The offense made few mistakes! Maybe this will turn out to have been the district championship. Don't know but defense can definetly keep you in the game.Adversity really facing our defense one thing about it I want to watch and see how this Indian team regroups.

Don't think so,purple...if all things stay the way they are...I'm looking at the LCM-Livingston game as the game for district champion....still alot of games to be played between now and then though.Back to the game...I kept waiting for one team or another to go for two points like Lamar did last week. But now it didn't matter. :-[

PNG has great coaching & team. It was Betrands game last night. Jaloli was covered more than anyone on team. Livingston was on to him before they got to the reservation. Doty was awesome & well into the game. It's just a matter of time for these boys to explode!!!!!! They have it in them & it will soon be shown. Be patient & supportive Indian fans. I have faith in the whole squad.

I know that we all have faith in the team and the coaching staff. Sometimes it is just not meant to be, and our defense had trouble making tackles. I still believe we can bounce back with 6 wins and take district. Adversity builds character, and add that to the support from the legion of Indian fans and anything is possible!

YES...We will bounce back for sure. I think that the games we have played are only going to make us better, make us work harder. I think there is a lot of good to find in what the team has done so far. I am looking for a great season to come. :) GOOD LUCK NDNS. WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor Tackling...That's it. All that needs to be said about loosing that game. We make any two of the 3rd or 4th down missed tackles for loss that we had and we win.
Livingston is stout up front. No one in this district will stop them, but come playoff time, Brenham has the defense to stop that train. We prooved last year that you have to throw the ball to beat Brenham.
I also believe we will go 6-1, but we will finish 2nd! Making Friday nights game the DC game. Shame is it couldn't have been week 10 instead of the 1st week in district!

Livingston DII #1
PNG DI#1
LCM DII #2
Central DI #2

In this order. Which would mean we would miss out on Dayton and Brenham in the playoffs!

This is how I see it playing out also although I am not sure of the order. If we can start wrapping up and making the tackle we will be fine.

badndn you must have read my mind. This morning I was looking at enrollment numbers and my thoughts were that PNG and Central will go D-1 and Livingston and LCM will go D-2. The way this season has gone though, I am hesitant to make any predictions. There is a long way to go and injuries, suspensions and grades could hit any of the teams in this district. I still believe in these coaches and our kids. I think we will see some changes come Friday night. On a side note...If you are on this board and the "other" message board, please refrain from throwing our kids under the bus, especially on a site that all of southeast Texas is looking at. Whether we win the rest of our games or lose them, I know that these kids are giving it all they have. We will not always be talented or athletic at all positions, so lets not insult kids who are sweating and bleeding for PNG. Also, this is the same defensive staff that shut down Livingston and Vidor last year and those two teams put up A LOT of points and yards on other teams last year. So lets support them like we did last year. And a word for those who sit by the coaches wives at the game...If you want to insult coaches by name, I suggest you act like a man and tell it to their face and not upset their wives. That is unlikely because only a coward would behave like that. In the past at some away games I have sat in the same area that the coaches wives from the Matt Burnett era sat in and I personally told several "men" to shut their mouths because I didn't want them to upset the families. If I happen to be sitting by any of them this season, I will do the same. I hope that some men who are sitting near the coaches wives at the home games will man up and tell them to shut up.

I think the only way to make the defense better is to have some of your offensive atheletes play both ways IMO. Each grade has a certain amount of athletes and I think this class needs some to play both ways. I'm not trying to put down any of the kids, but I think this is the case. I know BF doesn't want to do that, so it probably won't happen. Anytime you hang 42 points on somebody, you should win period. We need to have atleast 4 wins to get, which means 4 out of the next 6. That would put you at 4-3 in district and would probably get us in.
