Spring Practice

The score is tied, 14-14.

Ashworth has been QB1 for both Team Purple and Team White. Each team has a back-up QB. Baseball kids are missing (rightfully so with the playoffs ongoing). Lots of QB RPO game and the familiar power run game featuring Tyson Henry. Ashworth had a nice long ball to D. Jackson. Hit him in stride for the TD. A couple of throws have been off or underthrown...the timing was off. I've been impressed by the DL on both Team Purple and Team White. DL coaches Logan Wilson and Blake Austin will have some interesting pieces to work with in 2026. There are some tall rangy kids and some wide bodies on the DL. Lots of moving pieces and lots of freshmen back ups playing now all over the field. Not the giant OL we have been used to over the past five years, but there is enough size and agility to work with for a very good OL to develop. It sure is nice to see PN-G Indians football in May. Love to see our kids competing, giving it their best shot, and getting better. Back up QBs...not too shabby. I would have loved to see Mason West at QB. I hear he is a great gunslinger. There is some talent in the pipeline. GO INDIANS!!!

inter squad games are so difficult to know

(Is it the _____ that’s good or the ______ that was bad on that play (offense/defense) but I always love seeing them regardless
I think the OL is going to be fine
Something I watch for OL is less size but do they “HIT/MISS” blocks almost like darts :

Doesn’t matter as much how hard you hit the triple 20

An effective offensive play matters more if the block hits or misses than driving the player 10 yards down the field or a pancake (yes all of those are nice) but if every one HITS their block (similar to a tackle on defense) you have a play that gains positive yards (5 or more) so sometimes give me a strong agile OL at this level (at higher levels they have all four —massive size, speed, strength, agility
To me at HS level I rank OL —agility speed strength then size. (You could reverse speed and strength according to your offensive playbook style and position C G T) Defensive line - size enters more into the equation then strength then agility then speed so almost backward (yes ideally you want all 4)
