As y'all probably know, the PN-G football team will depart for Arlington Friday afternoon and stay there overnight. The booster club is doing a fantastic job of making sure they’re well rested and well fed so they can perform to the best of their abilities when they take the biggest stage in American high school football Saturday at 11 AM.

The Indian Band, Indianettes, cheerleaders, Indian Twirlers, Geronimo’s Crew and NDN Press, on the other hand, will depart around 2 AM Saturday morning. In total, that’s around 400 additional students PN-GISD needs to transport to and from AT&T Stadium and feed during the day Saturday. The district will provide charter busses for transportation, and has the funds to provide each student with $10 total to cover two meals that day when the busses stop at Buc-ee’s on the way to the game and back.

That’s where the rest of the PN-G community comes in. I think we have the resources to supplement that per diem so they can eat good meals and perform at a high level, too. Dr. Ryan and Mr. Wells have agreed to receive any funds the community is willing to donate toward the kids’ meals, to be evenly distributed among all of the students from each of the spirit groups. If we can raise about, $4,000 total, that’s an extra $10 per student and we’ve doubled their money. If we can raise, $6,000 total, that’s an extra $15 per student. Hit $8,000 total, and that’s an extra $20 per student for a total of $30.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED- ALL FUNDS RAISED
If you can kick in a little extra cash, you can drop it off at the front office at the high school during school hours Monday through Thursday of this week. Checks should be made payable to “Port Neches-Groves High School” with “State Trip Meals” in the memo line. Checks can also be mailed, but should be in the mail no later than Tuesday afternoon if so. The PN-G student activities Venmo account, @pngisdclassof2024, is another viable avenue; be sure to include "State Trip Meals" in the subject line or a comment. (Yes, it's the Venmo account for Project Graduation, but it's tied to the school's student activities bank account.)

A lot of these kids come from families that are struggling to keep up with their extracurricular demands while also preparing for the holidays. That’s especially true this year, in light of the Invista and Temple Inland layoffs. All of the kids have been a tremendous source of pride for the residents of Port Neches and Groves this year - and there’s no place on the planet that’s prouder of its schools than PN-G. Here’s a great opportunity to show them how much y’all appreciate their efforts.

Go Indians!

Sending money now. Is this on Facebook? We need to broadcast this request to the widest PN-G alumni audience possible. Thanks.
My mother made all the arrangements and posted it to Facebook. It’s getting a very healthy response.

I hope this makes the students trip more enjoyable. And a better breakfast on game day will help them have more energy to perform! Hoping that the PNG band drowns out the noise coming from the other end of the field.
