Last night at the the school board meeting the new school board members that "love coach faircloth" so much, just showed their thanks for him guiding PNG to its first undefeated season in over 30 years and being named Dave Campbell's Texas 4A Coach of the Year. How did they do that? A raise? A public statement read on behalf of the community, school board and district stating their support and gratitude for Coach Faircloth and staff? NO. They voted to cut a coach from his staff. That's right..they cut his staff. Last year shortly before the season Coach Ciegelski took a job in administration, leaving Coach Faircloth one coach short. So last night the vote came to hire a PNG grad to fill this position and the position of freshman science teacher.(one man) Walters,Miller and Balsamo voted no...Broussard abstained...Brittain, McCutcheon and Parker voted yes. Since it was a tie vote, it lost. Let everyone be clear on this...A science teacher HAS TO BE HIRED FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR. So what does that mean? It means that by filling the vacant coaching position it would cost PNGISD an extra $5000 stipend for this coach on top of his teaching salary(which has to be filled). $5000...That is what these board members are worried about in a $40 million plus budget?People wanted to know names and who was doing what on the disturbing thread...Here ya go! This isn't he said, she said or rumors..this is public record.Wake up people! We need to do something now or we are going to lose the best thing to happen to PNG in a long time. justafan or someone who is computer saavy please copy your posts on coach of the year thread over here. I don't want them to be buried in that thread.

I had hoped we had moved past this crap.I heard that some board members were upset that their actions had been brought to light, so I had hoped they would back off Coach Faircloth...now this. This tells me that either they 1)are really stupid. 2)think we are really stupid or 3)are so indebted to the Burnetts for getting elected and are still being pressured by them. Whatever the reason, it is a load of crap. I am so pissed off right now that I could scream!

His name is Roland Garza...don't know any details on him. His name could have been Vince Lomabrdi and these genius people would have voted against him.

The way I understand it is that with the new state requirements to have four sciences as a requirement of graduation is why we need this new teacher. That and the fact that there are about 180 more incoming freshmen than there were last year.

We actually need to fill two science teacher positions: the position vacated by Coach Cegielski and the position vacated by Mr. Williams when he died earlier this year. The science department is now short two teachers. That makes it absolutely imperative that we hire at least one new teacher.

And for the record, I disagree with this decision as well. If we can get a coach and a science teacher all in one package for an extra $5,000 (which would also spare us a search for candidates to fill both positions), I say we go for it.

i think before anyone starts bashing the board members that voted against this , they should ask them what was their reason. I did and i got a fair response back and i respect their reason. This is not a popularity contest. they are there to make smart descision on behalf of the taxpayers and stay within the budget. Faircloth is a professional and he is not going to let something like this he said /she said affect his job, passion and the well being of the student! The man has earned his respect from us and he gives respect to us as well. Everyone needs to relax and move on.

If I remember correctly, he taught biology, but I don't know for sure. I never had him.
