i really want to hear the reasons those 3 voted no!!!

Better than that, I would like to know why Broussard abstained from voting....isn't that why we elect the board members? My opinion she, as well as all of the members, have an obligation to vote on ALL matters.

She said she didn't understand the issue well enough to vote on it. She's been reading this message board for a week as well as answering questions. She'll understand the discussion better tomorrow night now that she knows which way the wind is blowing.

Why don't y'all call Carol Broussard and ask why she abstained? You can bet your booties that I did.
BTW, her phone number is ***-****.

Please don't publish other's phone numbers on a public message board.

Someone should explain parliamentary procedure to this School Board. If someone abstains then it counts as a "No" vote. If you do not wish to vote on a matter, then you must vote "Present" as our current President did when he was a congressman. That way you can wait and see as Torino said "...which way the wind is blowing." LOL

It's beyond explanation for some of them...

Couldn't she have just requested that the issue be "tabled" until further explanation was available. If she didn't understand the vote (or the issues) then surely she understood that a "abstain" would result in a "no".

Proud,

Tabling it is the proper method that should have been taken.

But we need not question our leadership and their actions (cough cough)

You are right..they are just being fiscally responsible, careful spending our money..yada,yada,yada.

When will the simpletons on this message board realize that the $5000 stipend for a coach would break the bank of our $43 million budget? That is the only reason that our pure as the fresh driven snow school board members would vote against this.(cough, cough)

I think this is just one example of what is getting everyone so upset with this new School Board. They have not learned what their position is in the organization. Many people were upset with previous members because they would just "rubber stamp" what the Supt wanted. However, they understood that when they hire a supt, that person runs the District. The Board's only legal purpose is to hire a supt, set goals for them, approve the annual budget, and hear grievances. They should not agonize over each personnel recommendation. These recommendations are on the consent agenda and should only be pulled out to be discussed for extraordinary reasons. If the Board members feel that this position is not needed for budget reasons, they can remove it when they are working on the budget. Not after an individual has been recommended to fill it. When they begin to try and micromanage, they overstep their bounds. They hire the Supt and should let that person run the district. If they feel that the District is suffering, then they set new goals for the Supt or fire them and hire a new one. We now are have both the Supt and Asst Supt retiring early so they don't have to put up with this, what's next?

What`s next you ask ? Well Mr. Balsamo , who can`t even agree with a teacher / coach recommendation , will be assisting in the search for a supt. ............... with input from his sister , of course.
