From the PNG football webpage:
There will be a pep rally Thursday, November 12 at 6:30 PM at the stadium. Everyone's welcome to come help us wish the PNG Indians good luck in the playoffs.

Since we are having a pep rally Thursday evening, there will not be a school pep rally at 2:30 PM on Friday.

I work in the school district and our campus is NOT getting out early. Don't know about the HS, but the reason they usually get out early is for the buses to run and be back in time to transport everyone to the game.

My kids are in HS and that is what I figured it was for if they were to get out early.

It does no good for one campus to get out early and not the others if the reason is transportation. They use the same buses to get kids home from the HS, middle schools, and elementary schools. That is the reason for the staggered start and end of school days.

My kids just came home and the teacher that told them yesterday was mistaken because the teachers today said no they are not getting out early.

That's right, no early release this friday. I guess the game is close enough that they don't feel it is necessary.

While I don't know what time the football team will be leaving (they typically travel separately), the band, Indianettes, escorts, twirlers, cheerleaders, and Geronimo's Crew are set to leave ~4:15. If I remember correctly, it took about two hours to get from the school to Stallworth two years ago, but that was on a Saturday and we weren't fighting rush hour traffic. I figure that we'll be at Stallworth around 7, putting us 30 minutes ahead of kickoff.

I would be surprised if it took two hours for you to get to Stallworth. It probably was closer to an hour. I doubt the buses go that slow.

On a normal day, it only takes 1 hr. to get there, but not sure about buses. BF said that he wanted to try to leave at 1pm. Fri.

You would be surprised...

I figure that it'll be 1:30-1:45 if there's no traffic and the busses stay at a constant 70 the whole way. The problem with that is that we're lucky if we crack 65 and typically stay lower than that because we're travelling in a convoy of nine "yellow dogs," one truck, and the district Excursion and trailer - all in traffic. Add in the fact that we probably won't leave at 4:15 on the dot and I'm figuring we'll be there at 7.

Hey bankid...I was just wondering since we're the home team, if the band will do their traditional entrance and march in and play Cherokee for the fans? I was hoping ya'll would do something like this just to kickstart that electrifying PNG atmosphere!

I don't know, but that's not a bad idea.

When the band stands in front of the PNG fans and plays Cherokee before the game, everyone in the stands can hear it and sadly other than the Marching I, that may be the other time for the fans on the opposite side of the stands from the band to hear it. BTW it is one of my favorite times of the evening!

Well, I hope they do it! I thought since the band may not get there until 6:30 or 7, that it would a GREAT way to make a grand entrance...!
