Just awful preparation. Fundamentally we’re awful on defense. Even a slow QB exposes our poor technique and tackling fundamentals!! We try to arm tackle everytime.

Why and how the tackling is not there is beyond understanding. Not going to win much if that's not addressed. Nederland is probably going to game plan heavy on the run and strike for long passes. Hoping that the defensive line starters can return from injuries by then.

I’ve watched many practices and I’ve never seen live tackling

I understand that 2020 is not 1974-1977 or 1953-1955, but can we at least set up some cones and have players form a shotgun alley around the cones for an old nutcracker drill [ OL v. DL with a RB behind the OL and a LB behind the DL...coach blows his whistle and the RB tries to run up the middle (staying inside the alley) and the LB tries to crush the RB]? When the coach blows his whistle, it is all out war. The DL and LB have to get the RB on the ground and they have to do with violence. No arm tackling. No flag football. No worries about concussions. Just getting after it. Or, bring back Texas basketball from the Danny Malone era and have some people learn about getting the other player on the ground.

On the bright side, the new season starts in two weeks. We have some time to fix the mistakes, get better, and turn negatives into positives. Onward and upward.

Go Indians. Peace.

With all the concern with and effort to avoid brain injuries, football is no longer the same sport.

Back in the day it was not unheard of to hit another player so hard that you might see stars or black out for a brief second when you deliver the blow. The damage to the target was usually worse. Those types of hits were called 'slobber knockers'. :)

I understand that tackling is an issue, it always is. The teams we are playing in preseason are bigger schools and better teams then in the past. This is what u want out of preseason is teams that will test yours. We won one and lost the other two by a combined 9 points and one of em in OT. If we can get the Dline healthy I think we will pretty good.

Different subject. What do you do with the best QB AND the best RB on the Longhorn team. I know. Make him the THIRD string RB. RIDICULOUS. I hope he transfers if that’s what he wants. He belongs at QB. There are too many teams with good sense who need a great QB

Found out he was questionable due to shoulder. That’s Roschon trying to go if at all possible. Best football player I’ve ever seen. I did notice one awkward tackle. He ll be back better than ever soon. Best player on the team.
