Top 5 Quarterbacks

Offensive systems at Port Neches-Groves have come in different forms over the decades. For example the Indians high powered state finalist team in 1977 threw the ball for only 1,004 yards over 15 games. That team featured a power I attack with running backs Justin Eicher and James Shipley accounting for 2,586 yards on the ground. The passing game was strategically used to balance the attack. Ronnie Delcambre was the go to receiver with over 600 yards in receptions.

Fast forward to 2021 where Cole Crippen tossed the ball for 3019 yards over 13 games with a ground game that accounted for 2,340 yards. Crippen, his top receivers and the entire offensive line return for 2022. It should be an exciting season.

Blake Bost maybe the starter for upcoming bowl game?

Leaving Bost off that list was partial oversight but also lack of detailed stats. Working on adding him into that spreadsheet. He is definitely top 5 and Crippen is on his way to top 5 passing if he has a comparable season next year..

Bost won’t transfer. It’s all in the family to go to A&M. He’s a good kid with a good head on his shoulders and is willing to work for what he wants. He will stay and battle for the QB job. He was already good enough to beat out a four star recruit to be third then by injury to second and they moved the other QB to TE.

Bost has a great arm. Once his confidence level improves with play he will be a force.

Btw the stats are updated on this page and Bost is rightfully recognized as a top 5 QB.

It's hard to say why he is leaving, but from reading the thread, there could be a lot of reasons...I'm guessing, like one poster said, he had a heart to heart with Jimbo on where he stood and he wasn't going to be the starter next year. After the Alabama game, he only had a few descent games, but otherwise was mediocre. Ultimately, he wasn't going to play in the bowl game regardless because he had surgery. I personally thought he was horrible in the beginning, made some good strides, and then regressed again.

Let's hope they let Bost pass the ball, but I'm guessing they are going to see a heavy load of Spiller early on atleast.

What an incredible Cinderella story. Blake Bost, a preferred walk on who was not expected to do much more than run the practice team offense has earned his way up the depth chart and may now start in a bowl game as a freshman QB. This may be a first for a PNG grad. It was obvious that he had a strong and accurate arm and good ability to run even as a sophomore.

He definitely has a golden opportunity. If they let him loose and he plays lights out, who knows what the future holds for him.

He did say he was going to opt out of his senior year, but I'm guessing he still plays in the bowl game.

Players opting out of scholarship commitments, transfer portals and NIL deals are all things that are ruining college football and negatively influencing high school football. Now we’re beginning to see high school players opt out of their senior year.

They need to reimplement the "Sit out 1 yr when transferring" rule. As for NIL deals, I realize that the universities were making money off of the star players.....who in turn got a full ride for room/board plus a great education. However, the universities typically made way more on the deal in the long run. What should happen in my opinion is the university itself gives royalties to the players whom they are making money off of vs allowing the players to get NIL deals with entities outside of the college institution....but this is just my 2 cents hah.
