Huntsville’s front 7 gives them the advantage over Nederland despite having a freshman at QB
not always a bad thing
If you don’t have at least one QB per class better than a freshman that usually means he’s pretty good.

Montgomery doesn’t (IMO)
Have a dual threat QB he’s more of a running QB that WILL throw
If we contain him running we should have 3-4 interceptions

With the win over Huntsville MLC is showing more charactet than we predicted. Maybe Huntsville underestimated them a tiny bit as well.
Nederland beats Huntsville. Huntsville does not make the playoffs. MLC goes as the fourth place team.

I still pick Huntsville to win tonight
(Definitely could be wrong)
As they say
“That’s why they play the game”

I did find it fascinating that the new (Freshman) QB ran QB keepers 4 out of 5 plays IMMEDIATELY after the SR QB went out on an injury during a QB keeper. (And many more later)
I believe he got hurt on a play that the NFL made illegal this year in the style of the horse collar
(Which in hindsight I like all the new hit rules in football I didn’t think I would)
I look for it to be illegal in all levels soon

I call it “bulldogging” where you grab the upper body then sling your own body weight down and sometimes come down on their low legs as you hit the ground.
(Picture steer wrestling) (although you have to throw the calf down from standing - I’m talking about the initial grab lol)

I couldn’t see as there was an obstruction but you could hear him scream which usually suggests fracture (usually)

Completely agree that a good passing attack behind the strong arm of Bailey can lead to more good things.
But perspective is important. Last season PNG passed for 2020 yards over 16 games. About 7 completions and 124 yards per game. Nunley led all receivers with 45 receptions followed by Washington (22), Adams (15) and Richard (11) . 8 other receivers totaled 24 catches to round out the stats. Adams' receptions were over just 5 games so he would have challenged Nunley for most catches if he'd played all 16 games as a receiver.

Not a ton of passing but 17 yards per completion and 25 TDs helped the offense a lot. I would say that was a very effective passing stategy last season to score on 25 out of 117 catches.

Anyone know how the numbers compare this season through 8 games? It may be comparable.

Something else to think about

Last week was Connor Bailey’s first loss as a QB

AND was it his first loss of his entire career ?
Or did he lose some as a freshman/JV
