I am glad the bye week is coming after the resounding LaPorte victory and before the district opener against Lake Creek. Always the danger of coming out flat after a big signature season win.
Confident that PNG coaching staff will get PNG players focused on what the end goal is the next win and a stepping stone to a consecutive district title.

Lake Creek is 1-2 having Scored Points For at 61 and Given Up Points against at 88 in their three games. LC has played two local Houston Tapps private schools on their schedule. PNG is at PF 125 and PA at 48.

Key from this point on is avoid injuries. PNG squad has lost #45 Kooper Benoit DE/MLB and #26 special team player J’Deah Jerry to injuries.

Are those season ending injuries?
For Kooper Benoit it was stated he suffered an injury late last season and is in recovery and hopes to continue his HS baseball career.

Benoit is on the sidelines in street clothes and providing encouragement and his experience to younger players on sidelines.
Jerry was injured as a RB late in the previous game. He is wearing an ankle cast.

What do we know about Lake Creek? They don’t seem to have the same offensive power as their last three seasons.

LC graduated their College Division 1 Senior QB and Senior RB from last year 6-4 season no playoffs. Impossible to find this season any LC game videos on any of the utube, NHSN, apps. MaxPrep just now posted a partial LC roster on their site.

2025 Preview

Coach: Pat Kennedy. Lettermen R/L: 23/21. Starters returning O/D: 6/7. 2024: 6-4/4-3 district.

Players to watch: OL Hunter McKinney (6-5, 285), OL Gavin Fowles (5-10, 260), WR Chance Miller (5-10, 170, 4.6), QB/S Zach Colwell (6-0, 180, 4.8), TE Dakota Clarke (6-3, 220, 4.6).

2025 notes: The Lions missed out on the playoffs in tough luck fashion a year ago, as they fell on the wrong end of a three-way tie for third place. The good news is 13 starters return for Lake Creek. The bad news is the Lions graduated a record setting running back and a quarterback who signed with Texas A&M. The offense has a foundation to build around with two outstanding players returning in the trenches in OLs McKinney and Fowles. Kennedy says McKInney is, “a next level lineman.” Junior WR Miller is back and will be the top returning receiver, and TE Clarke returns with his great hands and blocking at the point of attack. Twenty-three lettermen are back, but young guys from a 6-4 JV squad will need to step up if LCHS wants to return to the playoffs.

So I thought he (QB) went to Tulsa
But i see he flipped to A&M

He “has a chance” at A&M where he could potentially start as a freshman at Tulsa
Kids are going to learn it’s a new college football
If I was an influence on a player now I’d say go where you can play early. With the transfer portal they’ll find you
And you’re not going to get the reps and along with it the notoriety sitting along with 3-4 other 3 stars.

Agree. In retrospect I think that if it were not for RJ’s lifelong dream to play for the horns he would have ended up being the starting QB for a nevertheless very good team and would have still made his way to the NFL as a QB.

Have to agree usedtocould. Now it is important to play early somewhere. If you sit long at a power 4 you get passed over by the next 5star. If you start at a smaller school and excel the power 4 will find you.

They start viewing you as a backup and they type cast you
And who wants to win a job due to injury ?

I guess it worked out for Tom Brady ha but even they didn’t know what they had until he was forced into that spot
I remember well announcers downplaying the patriots chances when he had to be the starter and it’s possible Brady might have never been a starter seeing how his low (late) draft position could have set him up that way
They always like the latest new kid on the block.

Summary of the Interview: PN-G is PN-G. I've (Coach Kennedy) known Coach Joseph and Coach McDaniel for a long time. I'm used to the Katy way. When I was at The Woodlands, we played Katy twice. They do what they do. PN-G will do what PN-G does. They will run the football, throw in some play action pass game, and control the football. On defense, Coach McDaniel will play the 3-4 and make you drive the field. PN-G will not make mistakes and beat themselves; PN-G's defense is not going to give up the big play. You have to drive the length of the field. We (Lake Creek) have to prepare well and play well because PN-G is going to be PN-G when they come here. Coach Kennedy sounded a little frustrated with his team. He commented that his kids are making too many mental errors and not taking advantage of the other team's mistakes.

He also described PNG as a juggernaut.

Now he's becoming familiar with the PN-G way. ; )
I think he’s hedging — Like, “Don’t blame me if we lose because PNG’s SOooo good.” I get the impression he sort of resents his team. It’s a baseball school more than a football school and I don’t think they get the same participation and talent influx from the student body as a school that size would normally get (if my count last year was accurate, they’re a 5a school with a 4a team).
