FINAL: PN-G 17, Midlothian Heritage 14

Sitting here watching the SOC/Terrell game. Terrell is way too run heavy and all SOC needs to do is stack the box. What does Terrell do to adjust? Spread offense? Screen passes? Nope. Just keep the QB under center and keep running it up the gut or off tackle. Easy stops for SOC. In order to have a decent chance against that defense, you need to open the playbook.
Might be all they can do. Not going to suddenly develop a passing game in 3rd round of the playoffs.

Yes indeed. That impressed me big time.

Next week will be gold teeth, gang signs and gold chains around coaches necks in matching sweat suits/etc

Prove me wrong.
Dont forget the Purple gloves and armguards just like the red ones they are wearing tonight. Tell me you plan on cheating without you saying your a cheater.

Met some MH fans at P.F. Chang's in The Woodlands. They were impressed with PN-G's crowd at the game. They could not believe we filled up our side of the stands. They were also impressed with the size of our band and the Indianettes. Asked what our schools do to get that many kids involved. Regarding the game, they complimented PN-G on the win, but thought the refs did not call a fair game. They thought all the calls went against them. They did not like the roughing the passer call. They were nice people and I complimented their DL, LBs, and gritty QB. It's always interesting to hear what other schools think of the PN-G crowd, band, etc.

We did agree that pound for pound, PN-G LB #35 was all over the field and a run stuffer. That kid may be, what, 5'9" and 175 lbs., but he plays like he is 6'4" and 250 lbs. He has a non-stop motor and he will get in the middle of things and hit the ball carrier.

He’s taller than 5’9 - I’d guess 5’11

Right now - I’m putting this on the OC - come after me if you want - I enjoy it
If your a prize fighter you pound the body until the hands drop then the knock out blow. PNG OL does not dominate the MH Defense in the last 3 minutes of the game unless there is a cumulative physical toll on MH. PNG fans expect the opponent Defensive front seven to be worn done and dominated.
You don’t do that with handie pass blocking. You have to smash in the mouth the whole game.

On that 4th quarter TD drive, Henry ran through the middle untouched for the score. Followed by the Ashworth to Gholke 2 point conversion. Clutch.

Look I’m glad we won!!!!! But….Yes … because if I have a high school team with no dog in this fight sitting here watching the game with me and they know exactly what we’re going to do - you think the recruitment camp of SOC will latch on to that?!?! I don’t know the man, but he needs to push the envelope period.
You are correct also. This next level takes a mastermind. Good ol fashioned school spirit can only get you so far. SOC is playing for blood. They are definitely bending the rules. And Joseph and Co know that. I do wish an OC from out of town with a stronger pedigree was installed. But it is what it is. I'll be rooting PNG all the way

Now glass is half full... our defense is stellar. When actually put to the metal, they perform. But they need the offensive to reciprocate. Ashworths first game against Ennis... perfect game. Playoff. 2nd round. Got the interception out of the way. Made the first score on a qb sneak. Great introduction.

2nd game... MH came to stop the run. He learned a lot in 48 minutes about speed and disappointment. But that's ok. His passing is actually not bad save a few when being flushed. But its his 2nd start, on a playoff level, we can work with that.

SOC... anything is possible. We beat them once. It is a them one year, then us, then them. If Ashworth works on that quickness. I think in the 3rd? quarter he hit Brisboe mid stride, middle of the field, and it was as immediately as B turned around. Ball was there.

Glass half full

This game was a heavyweight punch each other in the mouth to see who falls down first game. We kept hitting the run down the middle, down the middle, got a few great pass plays, then down the middle, down the middle, desperate pass completion, then field goal. Then repeat, repeat, etc.
MH had one trick play and one good pass. The rest was run, run, run. MH stayed with it to the last. Our defense was smothering. MH was pretty much one dimensional. Very few pass completions.
It was our passing that won the game. Our secondary was great and the MH quarterback was contained and sacked, thanks to the secondary, this was one of my greatest concerns.
Special teams was solid. Kicking solid.
We denied their favorite run game and said you'll have to pass to beat us.
It was a chalky bloody win but it may have cost a lot with injuries.
I'll take the ugly win.
What I am most pleased about is the post game prayer. To Him be the glory.
Prayers for Diaz and family. Connor Bailey and family.

One team thanking God that they don't have to play SOC, and the other team asking God for help.

I was unable to watch the game live, and had to watch the game replay only. I'm thankful to God for that, for saving my nerves and heart. I may just watch the SOC game the same way. Praying that #6 is ok, along with anyone else that was injured. Great game!

Just watched the first half. No one here mentioned the wind in this game. It affected both teams ability to pass effectively. Huge factor. The strength of this PN-G offense is, guess what, between the tackles. Eventually breaking a big run. To abandon that would be foolish. Run first, establish the run, then mix in the pass strategically. With Ashworth still adapting, it’s not easy to complete big passes , especially against a strong rush and gusting winds.

If we try and only run between the tackles and not mix things up it’s going to be a long night against SOC. The wind died down early in the game. Be fore the game it was windy.
