Statewide Coaching Changes

BREAKING South Oak Cliff DC Kyle Ward will be joining Rhett Lashlee's staff at SMU where he'll coach safeties
Not surprising. All successful programs take a hit eventually as opportunities arise. Their head coach will leave too when he sees an opportunity to enhance his ‘legend’. South Oak Cliff has been enjoying some great success. But every run has an end.

DC Kyle Ward is a good coach. I wouldn't be surprise to see him move up the college ranks as a DC. He's already an experienced and successful recruiter at SOC.
Yep. Can’t say that I mind seeing him go. Definitely a key part of their success.

Agreed. He was a big part of SOC's success. I was joking about his recruiting; not joking about his coaching ability. SOC will have holes to fill. RBs Trotter and Morton are gone, SOC will lose two on the OL, and the SOC defense will lose DL/DE Kordae Houston, LB Jamarion Phillips, SS Xavier Mayfield, and both D-I DBs Giles and Gipson. The QB comes back, but I think SOC loses their top two WRs. 2026 may be the year to knock off SOC. GO INDIANS!

Katy’s former head coach, Mike Johnson, age 78, passed away this weekend. He served as head coach at Katy from 1982 to 2003 and led the Tigers to a state championship in 2000, when Jeff Joseph played at Katy. Gary Joseph was the defensive coordinator at that time. Did defensive coordinator Matt McDaniel also play for Katy during those years? Prayers to the family of Coach Johnson. GO INDIANS!

If 2026 new year DCTXFB mock realignment holds true then hope to meet in Dallas.

They will recruit more.

Johnson really started the Katy dynasty, which was then continued with great success by Joseph and company.

Impressive…
