Lacey ran for 537 yards and eight touchdowns while racking up 260 receiving yards and two touchdowns, earning First-Team All-District Honors in 4-5A Division I.

At the end of the day, this current DCTF staff are just writing about football for a living. And they are no Dave Campbell. Take it for what it is, not an authoritative or defining list. Just a guy's opinion and something to read until football season. It helps DCTF sell ads and subscriptions.

DC did a feature article on Liberty Hill this year. If you beat LH two years in a row in the playoffs like PNG and Brenham you get sent to the Region 2 woodshed.

Sports entertainment writers cater to certain audiences or subsets of a common audience. They are not objective sports journalists and have no absolute knowledge of who the top 10 backs or any other position will be in 2027.

Henry is not a one year wonder. In 2024 Henry rushed for 1660 yds and 14 TDs as a sophomore. In 2024 Henry had a 72 yd dash against SOC and a 67 yd dash against Montgomery LC.
 
The Indians have a lengthy history of very good running backs. Trahan, Nguyen and Henry being the most recent. Chatgnier was a solid complimentary back as well in recent time. Few have ever received much preseason statewide recognition. The last to receive much hype was probably running QB Roschon Johnson.

With 3,355 yards rushing through two seasons, Henry has a shot at surpassing the all-time career leader Gordon LeBoeuf. Henry would need 1,756 yards rushing in 2026 to do that. That accomplishment would be a reflection of an overall team effort. No running back achieves records without great teammates around him including an offensive line that excels and fellow skill position players that take the focus off of the RB.

And similar to Emmitt Smith he gets the extra 2-3 yards at the end of the run.

What’s impressive is his patience now. It’s like watching a pinball machine as he waits for blocks to develop at the second level or just body interference and cuts to the backside always moving forward.

This is based of what they expect this year based on what the “known” unknowns are. They know the OL is being revamped so may take time to make holes. They know the defense is being reloaded so they may get scored on more the usual and that means more passing and less running. Is it going to go that way? We don’t know, but they basing it on their opinion mixed with what they know are unknowns. I think it’s a fairly decent list in which mine would have been different. I also would not have Tyson on the list because of reasons I stated above - the defense is likely to be less then last year ( which is a high bar that was set) so they are likely to throw some more to Gholke and Jackson- and run more with the QB who can run. So yes, based on that Tyson doesn’t look to be primed for a top 10 season. Will he do great? I believe so, but I “think” the load will be lighter and cut into his numbers.
 
Also - non of that is a dig at Tyson, it’s all about team pieces working together to do what’s best the team has to work with. I am not in the huddle, so who knows what this Jospeh and crew have in store for us. All we know is that it will be some good show out for some good Indian football.

Trying to follow your logic based on what the “known” unknowns are. You say you would not have Tyson on the list?

Frisco “Raccoons” Brennan Lacey 537 yds rushing 8 TDs and 260 yds rec 2 touchdowns in 2025 on a 4th place team that lost in bi-district. The Raccoons loss 4 Offensive senior lineman starters to graduation. Only have 4 Offense starters returning for the 2026 season.

I think the DCTXHSFB writer staff needs your “knowledge” to compile a top ten list of RBs.
 
Known unknowns are as I used as an - the OL, also some key defensive players.

Those unknowns that we know - so when making preseason predictions those are used and called Known Unknowns.

No I would not have him on the list - would my list match the posted list? Also No.

Oh, sorry didn’t realize this was a list for the past years when Tyson had a QB to spread the field, one that didn’t run and take yards. Or one of the best OL in the state the past two years. Or an insane defense that could keep scores low and allow the offense to grind it out on the ground. Thought it was for 2026 where we don’t know what he has, but can expect it to not be that.

I am not saying he hasn’t been great, I am saying it’s not in my thoughts that he will have a top 10 in the STATE year THIS year.

I would be happy to be wrong, but I don’t know enough about the changing parts to expect it.

Everyone gets an opinion. Do I hope I am wrong? Sure, but honestly I just want the TEAM to do good.
 
Opinions probably don’t matter to Tyson Henry or the team. My money is on Tyson running like the wind and gaining a lot of yardage this year. No doubt at all. Determination, power, speed, experience. He’s got it and is worthy of recognition. That DCTF writeup is for clicks and means nothing either way.
