A First in All of PNG Football History

It is extremely difficult to rebuild a playoff caliber team each season. After a Galena Park victory.

HC Jeff Joseph, his staff, and players will have achieved five straight years of playoff participation 2022-2026. Not only participation but dominance in the playoffs.

This stretch of excellence has never occurred in PNG football history.

In the four glory years of 1974-1977 they were followed by 11 years of no playoffs or district championships.

In the four glory years of 1952- 1955 they were followed by five years of no playoffs or district championships.

It takes great coaching, player dedication, family, student, and community support.

We are experiencing the greatest era of PNG football.

PNG hasn’t missed the playoffs since 2012

Let’s give Coach Faircloth credit due. His teams made the playoffs 9 straight years and 11 of 12 years missing only 2012. 102 wins. But only 12 of 24 playoff game wins. No doubt, this current staff is on a fast climbing trajectory that will surpass all. Jeff Joseph is setting the new standards.

Texas UIL High School football changed playoff format as follows:
In 2006 playoffs were expanded to four teams from each district.
In 1990 playoffs were expanded to three teams from each district.
In 1982 playoffs were expanded to two teams from each district.
In 1981 and prior years only the District Champion advanced in the playoffs.
PNG 2023-2026 teams would have advanced under the 1981 playoff rule while the 2022 would have advanced under the 1982 playoff rule.

Just think if the PNG 1970, 1971, and 1972 teams had played under the 1982 playoff rules. Believe PNG and Lincoln would have met in the Regional Finals with a possible trip to the state finals. Rules dictate success.
