Would have liked to see plans for an expanded strength training facility for all the sports.

Any word if the multipurpose covered practice field will be full size?

A high school football field is 360'x160'.
A high school soccer field is typically 330'x210'.

Give or take some space on the sides if more safety area is preferred, 400'x200' is generally enough area to fit a 100 yard field + 2 endzones + 20' safety areas around the perimeter. (300'+60'+40'=400' x 160'+40' = 200') A soccer field needing slightly more width.

The parcel where the current bus parking area is located looks to be more than sufficient to fit those 100+ yard field dimensions.

Is INDOOR ACCESS (from field house to facility)

But Texas High is on its THIRD indoor facility

When I was there in the 80s MANY MANY times when it was raining we couldn’t GET to it because of either hard downpour or lightning it was about a 120 yard walk from the field house and most of the time during rain it was nullified.
Ours was almost as nice as people have now and I believe it was built in the early 70s (1971is my guess) that’s probably accurate because in 83 the yard lines were faded and the thing looked old but that campus was only built in 71
It was 60 yards of turf (marked lines)then more unmarked complete with full sized goal post. Which really is all you need usually full sized from sideline to sideline
I don’t think it was ever designed for full contact practice because there wasn’t much padding under the turf (then again the Astrodome wasn’t super padded like it is nowadays) (Philadelphia etc)
 
Valid point. Available real estate limits that. Even UT has to walk or ride a bus to their current practice bubble. Their new facility will also be separated from the stadium and football facility. Would be cool if they could build a tunnel under the street. ; )
 
Joseph also spoke of refurbishing the maintenance building and converting it into a weight room. The current room can safely hold 60 students but during the summer there were over 450 students moving through, he said.

The bus maintenance building is approx. 8000-8500 SF. Over 2.5X the square footage of the current room! This would be among the largest high school strength centers in the state. Weatherford High is the largest by far with 15,000 SF and 56 workstations. Odessa Permian is at 9600 SF. The more workstations the better. More efficient sessions, less waiting, more capacity for athletes, etc. Whatever improvements are made, it will be awesome. I hope this happens.
 
Anyone have a feel if the votes are there for this bond to pass? Even the small town and not very successful football program of Aubrey, Texas has an indoor practice facility. This is just a small town of around 10k pretty far north of DFW....I guess it could be considered a suburb, but it's a town more like Port Neches honestly I wouldn't call it a suburb to be honest ... no Walmart, but they do have a Chicken Express hah. That said, there really is no reason why PNG shouldn't already have a indoor practice facility.

My cursory read of the room is that they are. Judging by eye, about 80% of the comments I hear or see online about the bond issue are positive.

On a related note, I hope everyone in Port Neches and Groves appreciates how supportive the locals are of the school, both in the stands and at the ballot box. Speaking from experience, that is not the case in most of the rest of the state at this time. One need only look down the road or across the river to see prominent examples right there in the Golden Triangle.

Tatum is the smallest town I know of who has one. It’s basically a one red light and Whataburger in the gas station town.
