As tough as it it is on fans to see really good players graduate, it must be much tougher on coaches. They invest a lot into building players and teams. And rely on them to get the job done on the field of play. But maybe that’s part of the appeal to teachers and coaches. The opportunity to build up the next generation of students/players and watch them grow into the best they can be.

For some reason Lamar doesn't recruit local high school talent, It makes literally no sense for a local small college to not want a Connor Bailey, Jaxin Winfrey, Rafa Black and others in this area . If you want the support of the community than maybe you should recruit local talent

A couple of PNG players are on the team. Also numerous area high schools are represented although they do take a lot of small college transfers and recruit from across the state.

I used to think it was due to the coaching staff, not only in terms of the recruiting but also in terms of sometimes not giving local players an adequate chance to prove themselves on the field. That may still be part of it, but after seeing a similar pattern with multiple coaching staffs I now think there may be more to it than that. However, I am puzzled about what the other factors might be.
Does Bailey have any college offers?

Huntsville Traeshawn Brown rushed for 1362 yds and 17 TDS in 2025 season. Tyson Henry rushed for 1695 yds and 25 TDs in 2025 season. Against Huntsville Henry had 303 yds rushing and 4 TDS in the winning game.
Henry needs ~ 1800 yds rushing in 2026 to become the number one all time PNG career rushing leader.
