Texas High is a lot better this year
The QB IMO is way better
He’s not a prototype QB but he delivers the ball and can take off when needed
They’ll be a challenge in Region II

Understand a few fans may still have some orange blood in their system. All are welcome to Indian Nation. Once touched by purple there is no going back.
Outside Texarkana and Marshall the other five R2 District 7 foes were a combined 16-36 last year. Pine Tree dropping down to 4A removed a district competitor.
Iron sharpens Iron. No substitute for playing a competitive schedule unless you are a magnetic school like SOC.
West Fork, Dayton, and Splendora are all 2-0 with impressive scoring offenses. Biggest surprise is Montgomery Lake Creek bringing up the rear with an 0-2 record and no offense or defense demonstrated so far this season.

SOC 20, Longview 17 final. SOC is fast and plays great defense. As much as we don't like the SOC coach, he prepared his team and they were consistently in the right position. Course, there was a lot of holding, clipping etc by the SOC offense.

And if you notice the first 3 games that SOC played was against 6A powerhouses.

I do believe Usedtocould may have had an attempted orange and white transfusion years ago but his body rejected it completely. He is a purple and white brother through and through.

I agree. I know its early but its starting to look like those two will be the ones to beat. I might even put Dayton above Montgomery at this point.
We shouldn’t count out Huntsville. They’re solid, and are capable of being dangerous if they can get more consistent on defense. And they’ve played better competition than Dayton and Montgomery. Here’s my rough district power rankings, now that preseason is over:

1 PNG
2. Huntsville
2. Dayton
2. Montgomery
5. West Fork
6. Nederland
7. Splendora

Lake Creek too bad to deserve a ranking? (lol)

Definitely can’t count out Huntsville.

I’m not putting the nail in the coffin for Nederland, but as of right now they’re not good. An uncharacteristically incomplete team. Basically no offense, and nothing special on defense. I don’t doubt they’ll figure out a lot, but my assessment isn’t a season prediction, it’s just my opinion of how good they are right now.

I'm calling it on Huntsville. Yes I'll eat my words. But coaching... they're not being used to their potential. Our Defense is scrappy as hell.
I agree they’re not being used to their potential. Plenty of athletes, but something is off. The tackling hasn’t been good, the blocking isn’t great either. The QB isn’t developing near as fast as I thought he would - He’s basically a third RB. Not accurate as a passer at all. But, it’s a new coach and a new system. It could be that the system isn’t quite together yet. I don’t want to count them out. I think we’ll beat them, and it won’t be as close as last year.

Fair enough. I'll will be personally flabbergasted if they run tougher than what I just saw last night. Simon was a beast. And we contained.
I'm all about being cautious. But also, at some point you throw down the gaulent and win.
I think we're starting that path.
