A Bold Prediction

JB

PNG
It has long been a belief of mine that the 4A level of High School football is special in that the talent pool is more or less equal across the board. Each team has that one or two players that have special talent but, based on talent alone any one team can win at any one time. I believe that here are two factors that play a vital role in determining a team’s success in district 20-4A; coaching staff and fan support.

I believe more and more with each passing week that the coaching staff that has been assembled at "The Reservation" is far and away superior to any that has been assembled in this area before. I think that their approach to motivating and training the team is unlike any combination that has been used before. I feel confident in saying that our coaches are as good as can be found and they have one goal in common, "success".

The fan base of PNG is unlike anything that I had ever experienced before moving here. If you are reading this and are unclear as to the experience that I speak of, treat yourself to a PNG football game, or volleyball game, or baseball game, or soccer game, or UIL Band competition or one of the many other activities where you can experience overwhelming pride and support for all things PNG. If you are still unclear, drive by one of the PNG elementary schools on any Friday and watch the flood of purple exit the building at the end of the day. This type of support is unparalleled and unique to PNG.

MY BOLD PREDICTION: Based on the factors that I spoke of and the talent of our team I predict that PNG will win the district title and do so in "undefeated fashion." As I sit here, just a couple of hours before the kickoff of district play I feel that our team, its coaching staff and "our fans" are unbeatable.

If you are the supporter of a district rival please do not take my ideas or prediction as an insult. I believe that you have a talented team but, to win in district 20-4A you need more than talent. See you at the game.

Is anyone else SICK to death of hearing that??? I mean really people just say it PNG is the "Real Thing". Our boys have fought hard to be where they are at now and we as fans are very proud of them. Keep up the great work guys. :woot:

Hey, we can get as cocky as we want. It is our job to play up our team. I can guarantee the boys are not getting cocky. Coach is not letting them get a big head.

That's right modmouse78. We're not coaches or players, just PN-G fanatics. 10-0 seems very possible given the evidence up to this point in the season.

Well said, IndianFan! And if other teams think that ALL our diehards were at that game, they need to think again! There were lots who couldn't get tickets and also the weather kept some away. If we play them again over there, I suggest we change sides and we'll fill up the home side!

I could not be more proud of our team and our community. The spirit here is unmatched! I am so lucky to be a part of it and to wear the purple and white! The journey of this football season, with these coaches and our players, will stay with me forever.  -- PN-G Head Coach Jeff Joseph
