These two letters were written by concerned parents and I was asked to pass these on. Maybe someone on the board or school administration will address these citizens' concerns. It is a shame!

Since I am the Pres. of the Baseball Org.(we have no direct ties to the school district) and have all emails of parents involved in png baseball, I was elected to be the person to issue the following email. I am not here to start trouble and neither are any of the parents of png baseball. We asked an PN Administrator who was at the game last night how we should handle this for the second time and we were told to call the Adm. Office and complain. Please send this out to all of your friends and relatives and ask them to call or email. In the beginning we thought that the Superintendent was either mis-informed or un-informed. There is no longer and excuse for this embarrassment.

Ok everyone, there are a few things we need your help with.
First: Concession stand! I made a call to Cheryl Hernandez at the admin building and was told they where aware of the problem and that Dr. Randall was having a meeting with Mr. Keith yesterday. One of our parents talked directly to Dr. Randall secretary and was told we would have a concession stand last night and if you where at the game? (NO CONCESSION) So I am asking you all to please speak up! Make a phone call or send an e-mail.
Second: The wheels on the portable batting cage have been broke, two request have been put in to Cheryl Hernandez to have them fixed. Surprise they still haven't been fixed!
Third: The eye sore behind left field! You can see it from Merriman and I guess our facility is the dumping ground for the districts junk! They need to clean it up!!!!!
Fourth: The Lady Indians have Port-a-potties! That is so sad! If the boys are not playing the Ladies have to use Port-a-potties!
Fifth: I sent you all an e-mail about Mr. Walters (Port Neches Police Officer with two students in the school system) running for the school board election, I also want to let you know about Lana Parker is also running for a spot on the board. PLEASE GO OUT AND VOTE! it only takes a few minutes and it is really important!

IF WE ALL CALL AND COMPLAIN THEY WILL HAVE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS!

THE ADMIN # 722-3351

PLEASE MAKE THE CALL!
Liz Anderson

Ladies and Gentlemen of PNG Administration:

I am writing this to express my complete disbelief, disgust and utter embarrassment in what I experienced last night at the varsity baseball game against LCM at our stadium, on the Reservation. I capitalize ‘Reservation’ because I hold our school district in very high regard as do most who graduated from PNG. I have ALWAYS been proud of our school, our school district and the pride, honor and tradition that is associated with Port Neches Groves High School . Hence the reason for the disbelief in what I (we) experienced last night. District play began last night so from yesterday until 01-May we will have visitors at our park every Tuesday and Friday nights. There may be other nights too as I am not familiar with the girls softball schedule but I am writing this on their behalf as well.

The concession stand was not open. That is a pretty simple statement that does not seem to carry much impact with it but I want you to understand our perspective. As parents we work late some nights, some weekends and always get to work early on game days to lessen our chance of missing a single pitch of a ball game that our children are playing in. We are running, always running to keep up with schedules, appointments and game times. Yesterday was no exception. Neither will Friday be nor any other night this season. It’s always nice to finally get to the park so we can relax and enjoy watching our children compete in sports as we did twenty to thirty years ago. But, there is nothing to drink, nothing to eat. There’s not even a water fountain for the fans to use. Nothing! Our guests from LCM were very surprised and had quite a few comments about the situation. Some of these people are my friends. I was embarrassed. I was as embarrassed last night as I was last fall when the entire football team was fighting on the field. These instances do not represent the PNG High School that I graduated from.

First and foremost it is a courtesy to our guests and to our parents to have available some refreshments for the ball game. If you see that concession stand as a source of income then you are wrong. The baseball program does not benefit from it anyway and I feel certain the softball program doesn’t either judging from the fact that there are port-a-potties behind the stands. That is just gross. I am a man and I don’t use port-a-potties for that simple reason and I feel very sorry for the ladies who have to use them. I suggest putting some outside of the administration building for your use so that you may understand what I’m saying to you. We all wonder where the concession money goes but that is a whole other subject that we will address at a later time.

This really is just the tip of the iceberg. Have any of you been to a ball game lately? Please come to the games Friday evening and pay attention to the following: the parking lot or the lack thereof, the beautiful country club tennis courts, the junk yard behind the country club tennis courts, the leaning outfield fence, the rusted chain link fence along the canal, the foul lines and atop the bleachers, the miserable condition of the softball facility, the port-a-potties, etc…. While you are walking in noticing all of this, pay close attention to where you are stepping because more than likely you are going to step in a pot hole full of water and mud. Once you sit down pay close attention to the p.a. system and how good it sounds. Hopefully the score board will be working so you can keep track of the game. Remember to bring a bottle of water and some crackers from home so you will have something to snack on during the game.

Myself and several other parents have busted our humps at that ball park this year in an attempt to make it as nice as possible for our kids. We have raised money and even spent our own money to improve the park as best we could. The projects listed above, well, we haven’t gotten to them yet or we just can not afford to do them. If I’m not mistaken some of the bond money was supposed to be directed towards the baseball and softball programs but we haven’t seen one red cent of it yet. Don’t get me wrong, I am very proud of our new football stadium and all of its amenities. I’m also proud of our new gymnasium and I enjoy attending sporting events in both. More importantly I’m glad for our children that they have a nice facility to play in. I’m not the only one who feels this way and I’ve CC’d several other parents in hopes they will also contact you to express their feelings as well.

We are fortunate to have one of the very best high school baseball coaches in the state of Texas and I am so thankful my son is playing for him. Give the man something to work with. Start by opening the concession stand so he and everyone else will at least have something to drink.

Folks, you had candidates last year who were complaining about this exact thing and we failed to get them elected. Two of the candidates felt that along with ignoring extreme problems at the elementary campuses, they also expressed concern that the other sports venues were being ignored.

We have the opportunity to put 3 new citizens on that board in May who have no connection to the current board. Get out and vote!!!!!!! Only then will you see accountability and things change.

My thoughts exactly...What's it gonna take to get people to the polls? If it takes knocking on doors on election day and asking if they have voted, we need to do it!!!! We should have done that last year!!!
