Beaumont United @ PN-G

Anyone know anything about Beaumont United? New coach. New schemes? New culture? New enthusiasm for the program? They are usually good to very good on defense. In the past, PN-G has worn them down. Beaumont United usually doesn't have much depth. Good starters, but they get worn out in the second half. PN-G has been fortunate rotating a lot of kids in and out and keeping bodies fresh against Beaumont United's speed.

They are always a step or a long pass away from breaking one open. Honestly I hope the new coach helps bring that team together. (But not this Friday.)

Beaumont ISD, for all its glorious sports history, has struggled to win on the football field. I don’t want them to beat the Indians but I hope their season improves from recent history. West Brook and United.

2025 Preview

Coach: Drenard Williams. Lettermen R/L: 27/31. Starters returning O/D: 6/6. 2024: 3-7/1-5 district.

Players to watch: WR/DB Ashton Henry, DB Jonas Badger, QB Raphael Deshotel III, RB Derrian Anderson, OL Kevin Thomas, CB Jamon Pelican. Top juniors: WR/DB Tylin Merriweather, LB Myles Andrews. Top sophomore: RB Da’Shawn Moore.
Other prospects: OL ZyKing Britton, LB Christerpher Norman, OL Dewey Hickmon, LB Brandon Gobert, WR Emmanuel Shaffer-Jones, LB Collen Woolridge, LB Jerry Brown, WR Ontario Williams.

2025 notes: Beaumont native Drenard Williams takes over a United program that’s never had a winning season, but he brings a winning pedigree to his hometown after time as an assistant at powerful Austin LBJ. The offense should be dynamic with QB Deshotel III (874 yards, 5 TDs passing) leading the charge. RB Anderson (294 yards, 3 TDs rushing) and WR/DB Henry (19-259, 4 TDs receiving) also return for added firepower. LB Norman (42 tackles, 1 sack) leads the front seven, while there’s talent back in the secondary with DB Badger and CB Pelican returning.

I watched the Bellaire game; it wasn't a terribly impressive win. Not to take anything away from their win, but I genuinely think that our JV team could have beat Bellaire. United does certainly look better than in past years, and they do have some athletes with big play ability. They cover 0 blitz ALOT. I'm assuming their CB's could lock up Bellaire's WR's in man so they just sent the house. Bellaire's QB wasn't super mobile. United does really well with slants across the middle, and their RB has some nice speed. Inside linebackers are stout. OL leaves a lot to be desired, but maybe I'm just spoiled by ours, and DL is big but don't show much motor. I think if we treat them as dangerous, we grind them down, frustration sets in, they make mistakes, and we run up the score. If we don't take them seriously, we could get in trouble as they are athletic enough to make some big plays and put us in a position where we don't get to control the tempo. They certainly seem to be playing more inspired than I have seen in years past. If we play our game, starters only play 2 quarters. Hopefully we keep the same intensity from last week.

Well now we are ranked #7 DCTF if anyone really cares this early in the season.
Don’t look At MaxPrep 5AD2 rankings. PNG now ranked 5th. But if you look at the MaxPrep preseason and August 31 rankings there is no rhyme or reason to the heavy shuttling of winning teams up and down. Proof computer programming AI logic makes no sense.

I'm seriously considering going to the Waco La Vega vs Celina game..both teams made it to their respective division's Finals at Jerry's house last year (while I listen to the PNG game on youtube hah).

Concur Just To prove the point again.
Major shake up on Dave Campbell Texas Football 5AD2 state rankings for week 3 of September 10.
PNG jumps up to 4th. Huntsville jumps up to 5th. Other State Teams that won last week slide down?
Matt Stepp of Dave Campbell hedging his predictions that La Porte will win 5AD1 state championship and Huntsville will win 5AD2 District 8.
Stepp Looks better if his predictions lose to a higher ranked PNG team. Stepp is predicting a 4 point win for Laporte. PNG likes to compete and win in one score games.
