We have a different center and, according to his dad, he doesn't like the job. He's doing a good job for the most part, but it's not his 9th week, and the wet ball and field makes things worse.

I'm disappointed to hear he does not like his job as the center. He has one of the most important jobs on the field. Each play begins with him. For the PN-G offense to be successful with the QB in the shotgun, a good snap is critical. 15, 16, 17 and 18 year old kids make mistakes, including bad snaps. Fans should be able to live with a few mistakes by a kid giving it his all. A wet football will cause a few mistakes. I hope he understands Indian fans support him and we know his job is important. Here's to him having a strong game vs. Vidor and in the PLAYOFFS!

As an aside, I have seen PN-G play five times this year including last night's game vs. Central. A big round of applause to the PN-G defensive coaches. The game plan last night was excellent. PN-G kept Central contained in the middle of the field where there were 11 Indians gang tackling. Central made a few plays and racked up big chunks of yards, mainly through the air, but the Jags' RB #12 that the newspapers rave about, well, the Indian defense held him in check and gang tackled him like nobody's business. He probably had 100 yards, but he did not take control of the game, he did not get into a groove, he did not get outside much, and when he ran the ball for those 100 yards, he got hit, hit again and hit again. Last night was the best tackling performance by the Indians in a long time. Big time goal line stand with the DL controlling the line of scrimmage against a bigger Central OL. If PN-G had that type of defensive game plan and execution vs. WO-S, that game is different on the scoreboard. We did not tackle well in open space vs. WO-S. We did vs. Central especially at the line of scrimmage and BEHIND the line of scrimmage. If PN-G had that type of defensive game plan vs. Nederland and if the Indians had tackled better with all 11 on defense running to the ball and gang tackling like their hair was on fire, then Nederland would have never jumped out to a 24-6 lead and the game could have been different at the end. Excellent game plan on defense, PN-G coaches. And, an even better game of execution by the kids playing defense. The Indians will need that type of defensive performance in the playoffs. They have seen now that they can play at a high level against skilled athletes. Now, go do it again and smash Vidor! Get rolling for the playoffs.

On offense, #25 ran well...he took some hits, bounced off, and got into the end zone. I liked the motion with #13 into the backfield and the misdirection out the backfield with the RB. Liked seeing the QB move around in the pocket...the roll out and throwing the ball quickly. Central was not able to get much of a pass rush. Our QB throws well on the move...very well. The mini roll out and quick throw to #8, #10, or #13 is usually a completion for 10 yards every time. The catch by #13 on the seam route/slant is usually open and the kids execute it well. And, the downfield blocking by PN-G WRs was excellent.

Go Indians. Peace.

Not downing the kid at all (and, I know you didn't take it that way). It's just not a job of preference. He'd rather be a regular O Lineman, like he started out. But, knowing him, he'll help the team in any way possible. He'd just rather do it another way.

Yes if we beat Vidor and Nederland beats Lomberton The we will be Co-Champs. But Nederland has to beat a good Lumberton team. Though Nederland rarely ever looses two district games in a row and I mean rarely

Nederland is not all that good this year. Lumberton's ground game will score on them. But can Lumberton's defense play well enough to win a high scoring game...

His name is Chase Gordon. Hard hit early in game but didn't feel bad until later in game. Parents had to take to emergency room and did surgery right away. He had a ruptured spleen and was bleeding internally and thank god they were able to catch it. The same injury killed a HS player in NJ this year. Please keep him and the family in your prayers.

Best wishes.

Not a trivial injury when you get hit hard enough to split your internals. Your own ribs become a weapon when this happens, damaging soft tissue. Jason Whitten of The Dallas Cowboys had a similar injury, but probably not as severe.

Guys, I know this is an old post and if by bumping it up bothers some, I apologize in advance. But this post was dead on accurate. I'm a Central fan, but PN-G played well in this game.

It's always an accomplishment to beat a very athletic Central team.
It's the scheme. PN-G 's offensive and defensive schemes always gives us fits. Factor that in with really smart players, that's gonna get you many wins.

No doubt PN-G has good schemes and smart players, proven by the offensive records and the many Texas All-State Academic awards over the years.

But the intangibles are a force as well. The 'Honor, Pride, Tradition' line that folks hear a lot of is a fire burning in every player and alumnus.

Even if a PN-G team loses, the other team is always going to walk off the field knowing they played a worthy opponent. A PN-G kid may be overmatched or outplayed at times, but he will never back down or let up. That mentality is baked in from an early age. ;D

Beaumont Central is always a worthy opponent and a great match up.
