PNG student, Dylan Richards, won the regional high jump competition and will advance to the state competition in June. His winning jump was 6'6". I believe his previous highest was 6'2" so what a great accomplishment this is. Maybe a bunch of us can get together to cheer Dylan on at state! BTW, not only is Dylan a great athlete, he's a great young man. I, one of many, am very proud of him. Congratulations!

Y'all are 100% correct! Dylan and his family are close, very close, friends of ours and Dylan is a fine man, partly due to the fact that he has Jay and Danielle for parents. Mackenzie is a great girl, too.

WOW!!! What an Awesome day!!! Dylan worked really hard to prepare for the regionals and then when the time came, he executed flawlessly!! I am VERY PROUD of him. I would also like to say that coach Cobb deserves a substantial amount of credit for this win. He devised a practice plan that helped Dylan get through those lower heights with NO MISSES. Even in something like high jump the coaching aspect of it is critical to success.

Here is a short video I put together of the event.

The 98th annual UIL State Meet is slated to be held in Austin Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium on June 5th and 6th. Mike A. Myers stadium is located on the U.T. campus just east of the football stadium.

The high jump event will be held Friday, June 5th at 2:00pm. I believe the high jump pit will be located on the north end of the field. I have been led to believe that the crowd tends to congregate in the east side stands. However, I believe we will be in the west side stands so we will have the sun at our backs. And if there is any way for us to be closer than in the stands, we're going to find it!

We truly hope that a lot of people from our area show up to support Dylan. This is a really BIG deal to us and he has worked really hard to get there.

Did Y'all know that Dylan is only a Sophomore?

Does he play, or plan to play football? ;D Sounds like he'd make a terrific receiver.

Me too! He works out five days a week with chip at mid-county fitness and is really just beginning to fill out some. He's strong as an ox and he'll only get stronger! Right now, his long term goal is to beat Abel's school record. Dylan plays basketball for coach Abel and really has that 6'9" record in his sights.

He played football until this year. he did play reciever and some defensive back. He didn't enjoy football like he does Basketball and Track. But I too believe he could make a really great player on the football team. Of course I may just a tiny bit biased.

While I'm getting to boast, Here is a video from earlier this year. Dylan played on the varsity Basketball team, and he did get to play quite a bit.

EDIT: I added two more basketball vids from this year.

Carzan, please ask Dylan to consider football! He'd be an awesome receiver. Our team is going places and I would love to see him go, too. Although, I must admit, I'm pretty proud of him already---please tell Dylan I said so. Love y'all!
