Following is part of an email sent to me from the PNGISD Superintendent.

Thank you for taking the time to send your email expressing concerns for our baseball/softball fields. I apologize for not responding sooner to you , but I was out of the office last Thursday and Friday. Following the recent resignation of our concession stand manager, concessions were not available for recent soccer and baseball/softball games. After learning that this had occurred, I communicated with high school personnel to assure that concessions will be available until the end of the season.

Prior to the beginning of the season, contractors were able to install a new drainage system on the baseball field. It was decided to delay the installation of the drainage system for the softball field until after the season. An effort was made to fill in some of the pot holes around the ball park and a platform was constructed across a grassy area leading to the baseball sidewalk.

Funds from the 2007 bond referendum are allocated for the following improvements that will begin following baseball/softball season:

· New concession stand
· New restrooms
· New batting cage building
· New tennis courts
· New parking lot

Your support of the PNG athletic program is greatly appreciated. We are also anxious to see improvements that will enhance the athletic complex. It is important that we continue the pride and tradition that has been the strength of our school district as well as our community.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Lani Randall
Superintendent

I wished the district would purchase the property across from the fire station and turn it into a parking lot.

That's funny. I thought the district already owned that.

Nope, I think that big lot is owned by the Block family. People used to be able to park there, but not anymore.
