FINAL: Indians 45, Lake Creek Lions 21

Thoughts after the game.

Incredibly proud of the PN-G fan support, band and everyone involved.

Indian fans are first class. They cheered and celebrated the Lake Creek softball team like it was their team.

Montgomery ISD has a nice stadium. Not as modern and expensive as La Porte's stadium but much more spacious and larger concession stands. Great parking and navigation in and out.

This game could have been 90+ to zero. But Coach Joseph has no interest in embarrasing the other team and he prefers to let all his players get into the game. First class coach in every way.

The PN-G band is amazing. Very few 6A bands can even come close to the size of this band. Once again they impressed the entire stadium.

Worth repeating... Beyond proud of the PN-G Indian Nation and how you represent. Team, students, fans, everything. It doesn't get any better in high school football.

How did the Backup QB do? Sorry, haven't been able to watch the game yet.
Not bad at all. He has a strong arm and throws a nice deep ball. I was impressed with how he managed the offense. He was calm and settled in to make some nice throws. Also I continue to be impressed with #6. He runs north/south with a mean streak. I like his style.

As we all knew, he will not get the chance. Still a stellar performance by Bailey.
I agree his passes are on target and have some zip on the ball. Let’s set the record in the Huntsville game. Bailey was getting drilled no roughing the passer calls. I would have pulled him sooner (35-0) in the game to prevent possible injury.

They played their first down “lion roar” on the PA and there was an audible laugh from the stands.
Several PNG fans clapped for LC after first TD. LC was so bad when the PNG first team was in.

I was expecting more from LC returning offensive line. Couldn’t pick up a LB bliz So many sacks and negative yardage on so many LC series good coverage by PNG first team secondary.

If Jackson ever learns to go to the ball. and hang onto it, he’ll rack up 150+ yards or more per game receiving. Gholke is incredible. Only a sophomore.
Good analysis. Get the ball to him early with a short pass to settle the nerves. Turf monster got him once on an excellent long pass from Bailey.

Regarding Defense. LC #22 is a hard runner but I haven’t heard such loud collisions in a long time. I was sitting 2/3 of the way up the stands and heard PNG LB #40 hit on #22 at the line of scrimmage.

I hope PNG #40 doesn’t have a concussion after that hit. he came flying out of nowhere. Instant recognition well coached on LC scheme.

I was impressed with the LC running back. I didn’t realize he was a freshman. Not fast, but strong. I wanted to check to make sure it wasn’t Chataigner stealing a little more high school football time.

He had his arm in a sling after the game.

I watched the Huntsville game as i watched PNG play. Thoughts. They are not the same team as last season or two. now that's not to say that they aren't loaded, but more like they are missing Coach Southern. A ton of penalties and mistakes. Great RB and line and a hard hitting defense. Lots of lapses in coverages and dumb mistakes.

Warning. Purple tinted, positive outlook ahead.

The Indians, with some more refinement and consistency that should continue to develop, can be a juggernaut. They have a lot of weapons on offense and a tough as nails defense.

Bailey has a rifle of an arm. Gholke, Brisboe and possibly Jackson are all deadly mid to deep level threats. Gholke runs precise patterns, hangs onto the ball and knows how to run after the catch. If all receivers can figure out how to go to the ball and hang onto it, lights out for opponents.

Diaz and Henry are a great 1-2 punch on the ground.

Guidry is a powerhouse runner for short yardage situations.

The offensive line is good to great. Pass protection and run blocking.

There is still room to improve but if they can dial it all in, wow.

This defense may be as good as any that Joseph, McDaniel and crew have had. They attack and tackle well. Winfrey and Brashers are the best inside linebacker combo I’ve seen in years.

Tighten up the pass coverage, optimize the offense and anything is possible.

One of the qualities I like about Coach Joseph’s game management is he does not run up scores, is not overly concerned with records and rewards his team by letting everyone play when the opportunity is there. It might have looked good on paper if the score had been 84-0 with 7+ passing touchdowns. It easily could have been done. Instead, he respected his opponent, protected his starters and helped his younger players and seniors enjoy the fruits of their labor. And doing all that sets a great example for every player on the team. Life lessons.

I would like to clarify my statement made during the game last night regarding putting the starters back in. I’m glad we have a coach who values everyone on the squad and does his best to let everyone see the field in games like last night. My issue was with LC kicking onside kicks and playing to win a game they couldn’t. LC should have noticed we put the 2nd and 3rd string kids in against their #1s. I didn’t feel it was a respectable call doing that after we pulled it back
